Getting Shocked!!!

I'm having a kind of weird problem with my 02 SE. Everytime I get out and touch the body/door I get one hell of a shock. I mean not the little ones you usually get on dry days but a big one. It started happening a couple weeks ago. You don't even have to be in it for a long time. Just sit in it, put key in the run position, turn it off, get out and get shocked. Has anybody else experienced this? I'm probably gonna take it to the dealership but I have know idea how they will find/solve the problem. I'm guessing maybe a wire is gounding/shorting to the body when its not supposed to be.

I don't have the problem you are describing....but I do experience a shock when its real dry out....oh yeah and hot too....and cold humid nights....i don't get shocked at all....

I think the type of clothing u wear has an affect on getting shocked too. for example....I noticed when I wear black/dark colored polyester clothing on hot, dry, windy weather...I get shocked alot more as opposed to wearing 100% cotten white clothes

I wouldn't take it to the dealer on this one.... unless you want to get laughed out of the service dept. There is nothing wrong with your car. It's a normal static electricity charge that builds up on the car. When you get out and touch the metal you get the discharge. You can start shutting the door with your shoe but that will be he!! on the paint. I get it and sometimes it's worse than others, the only harm done is to my fingers. Get one of your friends to shut the door with their nose after a nice drive... if they dare.

I used to get shocked evertime I would get out of my car, but then one day I tapped my key on the door after I opened it and before I got out. When I got out, I didn't get shocked. So now, everytime I get out of my car, I tap my key on the edge of the door and I don't get shocked. But yeah, that shock is one hell of a shock.

Do you think stress has to do with me getting shocked? Sometimes when I'm depressed or stress...and I think too much...I noticed I get shocked more often....or maybe its my imagination?

I just had the idea that....if you are stressed/think too much....your brain flows more electricity resulting in more of you getting shocked...

haha I dunno...any medical experts here to correct me?

Static electricity is normal... esp in the winter when its dry out and you're wearing a fleece... I just shut the doors with my elbow or something...

get leather seats. The static eletricity buildup is from cloth seats rubbing against whatever it is you're wearing.

btw, I've never gotten shocked by the car (ever) but a buddy with a 01 maxima and cloth seats gets shocked all the time....
