LEDs in Taillight

If you have clear taillight lens it’s good idea to change the red bulb to LED. The Polarg red bulbs fade in time and turn to yellow.

You have to splice + and – wires leading to the turn indicator socket and put 6 ohm resistors in-between.

Jason, BudVlad has clear tail light lenses, not the stock lenses... by him saying that, I can only assume they are the CM ones that you and I are so fond of...

where did you get the resistor from? I bought them and installed it for the brake light led but for some reson it got the resistors very hot and they actually started to melt the plastic of the tail light housing.

I got the resistors at a local electronic hobby shop. It’s 35W ceramic and it’s not getting hot.

So where did you get the LEDs? Are the brake lights noticably brighter than the tail lights?

I purchased some 7773 red LEDs along with the 6-ohm resistors. The problem is that the brake lights are only slightly brighter than the tail lights. And yes, i have checked to make sure these are not 7440's and have verified the reisitors are installed correctly.

I got the 7443 LEDs from Autolumination. I used the resistors only for the turning signal LEDs. The brake light is noticeably brighter.
