Generic U.d.p.???

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Saw this on eBay about a month ago. Was curious about the quality since it's a no-name jobber... If it comes up again, I'm thinking about dropping the $$$ to pick it up. (I'm curious to know if anybody in the .org bought it...)

What do you guys think?

I think I wouldn't risk sticking in a cheap UDP... I'm already wary of the Motostorm one that I'm in the GD for, just because its not as tried and tested as the Unorthodox... its fine if nothing goes wrong, but if something does go wrong with it, then that's when it really hits the fan...

check for specials on the unorthodox website... sometimes they have pulleys for $80 cause of a blemish or old new stock.

I'd go with the Unorthodox UDP, there's been some issues with the Motostrom UDP, not sure if they cleared that up yet.

What sort of issues and what were your sources? Most of the 5th and 5.5 Gen guys I PMed said theirs has been fine.... I did some research on the 4th Gen forums and PMed about 4-6 people here and so far there has only been 1 case of pulley failure on a 5th Gen....

Thanks for the info, guys...

I'll do a bit more research, but it seemed as though it was made of the same material that the UDP ones are, but it does seem as though UDP is a quality product. I read about the HP gains just from the lightened pulley on nissanperformancemag.com last night, and they mentioned 2.7hp/pound lost on a Sentra they had featured (the stock Sentra pulley was over 10lbs, the UDP pulley was about 1.5lbs in the article). Is that a pretty reasonable estimate? I realize that the lighter pulley doesn't create more hp, but frees up hp wasted on driving other engine components with the heavier pulley. If so, I'll be looking into a UDP pulley if it will free up in the neighborhood of +20hp...

I really doubt you're gonna get 20 whp outta that...

Btw, not to be picky but UDP = under drive pulley and so UDP pulley = redundant

Just thought I'd point that out...

not really, they just add some of the power you loose at the crank.. it just cuts down on the power you loose.. you don't gain any hp, it uses the power already there, the diffrence is more of it goes to the ground..

for example: you have 200hp and 110 torque.
the pulley: you have 200hp and 130 torque...

@Tek-Niq...

It does look exactly like the UDP one, doesn't it??? (I wasn't going to say anything, tho...). So the UDP does more in the way of increasing torque vs. increasing horsepower, is that what you mean? If it increases the efficiency of the engine in a positive way, it seems like it's worth it to me...

@Puppetmaster - Point taken. Didn't realize I was being redundant. I'll watch that from now on
