What is the recommended mileage to change a timing belt for a 2000 Maxima GLE?

You don't have a timing belt...you have a timing chain.

same ****, its good for the life of the engine but good idea to change it around 250K miles when doing the water pump which will probably leak around 180K miles anyways.

I thought all you had to worry about is the tensioners.

yeah but chains are cheap and not too hard to swap. I would just swap them out while doing tensioners- or in my case cams. I got 104K miles on mine and its getting louder in the timing chain area.

Thanks! My friend's timing belt blew on his Jetta so he was making sure that wouldn't happen to mine...got 86K on the '00 Maxima now!

VWs (his is a 1.8t right?) have a flawed timing belt and assembly straight out of the factory. you don't have to change the chain on a maxima unless it gives you problems.

Blinker fluid gives your blinker a color.. other wise your bulb would light just white...

i was always under the impression that themz chaings are a PITA to change, don't u have to pull the motor to do it? i was thinking of never changing mine, blow the motor and just put a built one in.. i have 112k on my motor already and i'm about to introduce my motor to a snail

dude--no BELT--timing chain, and u dont have to change it ever--unless it starts making noise or u jump teeth due to some freak accident---Nissan has
done away with the BELT--no more Nissans have beltsand Maxis havent had a belt since like 93 or 94
