My last project...

If anyone can post my pics, I have taken a few shots of my brake parts that came from the chrome shop today. Let the pics talk...

The cast parts where sanblasted, the spring, bolts & nuts where cleaned using a grinder with a carbon brush wheel and a dremmel with different brushes and sand disk, the other brakes parts like the spring and the stud where polished. The accent color will be purple similar as the D2 coilover, which will be installed too. The brake dust cover is being painted purple, I think it will have a nice reflect on the chrome parts. In front I'm installing a SSBC twin piston kit with 12" rotor.

The entire project including the Caliper cost me 697$ CDN ( approx 550$ US ) What make chrome part resistant to corrosion is the zinc plating underneath,

Hey BlackBirdVQ, those will be expensive part but that will last forever, and it look great and will be very easy to clean & shine.

I'm wondering if the heat build up on these parts will cause any issues. Also, which wheel setup do you have that these will be hiding behind?

If you don't have a wheel that will show it off, and keep them well vented....it's useless...

The wheel I have will allow to see the caliper very well that's why I did it, because even painted the caliper after a winter look like crap and my car will never see winter again.

That's a good point, but I think it's quite possible that your brake parts may get just as hot if not more so depending on the driving conditions/habits. But I commend your uniqueness here.

There is a new process in chrome which consist of bringing the non conductive part to be conductive, so basically what they do is soak the part in some chemical product to clean it, the next step they soak the part in a copper solution which will build up on the part, once the part is cover with copper than it become conductive so they can go ahead with the nickel plating and then finish with the chrome plating. Check this link:

There is another product I saw recently but I cant find the link, I'll let you know as soon as I find it.
