still rattles a little bit...

Hey guys i just put hush mat on the rear deck of my 02, and it is still rattling i even took out the middle seat belt and put deadner on the others(inside) the deadner said 1sq in. for every 6 sq inches. i pretty much did the hole thing and it still vibrates. i only have one infinity kappa perfect 12 and am waiting for my amps to be returned from fosgate so i can put in my other 1. i am scared to see whats gonna happen to my max. is there any way to reinforce the trunk area so it wont rattle that bad. or atleast clean it up. i read the forums and it only talked about the rear lid. thanks for any input

I did a full dynamat trunk kit with xtreme dynamat on the trunk lid (helps make it heavier and eliminated a good amount of noise) and regular all in the trunk, under the spare tire, and on the sides...also take out the stock bose sub if you have it bc it allows more air to escape from the trunk and it also makes a weird noise when the air the subs are pushing out hits the bose sub...i even put little pieces behind the sidemarkers bc i found a metal piece back there rattled against an inner part of the trunk...the entire rear deck and seatbelt clips are also done with xtreme dynamat...i stuck cotton ***** inside the things that stick out on the top of the rear deck and clipped them back down...you'll also find it a great help to put something between the back of the rear deck and the rear windshield bc that creates lots of rattle...I used a kind of weatherstrip foamy stuff and just layed a strip in between so you can't really see it and it wedges between the two and eliminates the noise completely...before I did that I just had a few rags stuck in between but i pushed them back in the area with a wood stick and you couldn't see them at all that way either...i used this same weatherstripping to cut four strips and put them behind my license plate to prevent it from rattling against the back of the car...after all of this stuff i did there is honestly little to no noise at all depending on how cold it is...anything over 45 degrees or so , you can't hear any rattles inside or out at all...i was very happy with the outcome...the sound quality is also noticeably improved after the dynamat...I don't have pics of all of what i just explained but here are a few of the pics of dynamat that i've taken...oh yah...housecor's website also has a good how to on eliminating rear deck rattle if you haven't checked that out...good luck

Man Kruppa, you went all out! Nice work. If I was going to replace the Bose I'd definitely follow your lead. Judging from the improvement I experienced just doing the rear deck I'm sure yours sounds impressive.

Haha, yah I couldn't stand hearing any rattles so i decided to go all out back when i had money, but it was worth it. The rear deck is definitely the main problem, and besides that, I'd say to secure the seatbelt clips second if all you're worried about is hearing the noise inside the car..outside is a different story tho and you'll have to do all that other stuff I did for it to not rattle.
