Trying to decide whether or not I want to wait until April to get zinc plated 2k4 rotors (on backorder right now) or if I should just go ahead and get the powdercoated (black hub/inner vent) right now and save some time.

I am not exactly sure if there is any difference between the two in terms of rust prevention effectiveness or any other differences. I am in a hurry to get my horribly warped OEM rotors off (Blehmco relocation kit on the way) and need to get some 2k4 rotors ASAP.

Automax_95 quoted me 295 shipped for a front pair of RTP slotted 2k4 powdercoated rotors; rear pair of RTP slotted 2k1 rotors; and a rear pair of Axxis Ultimate pads. Just wondering if powdercoated will work as well as the zinc plated. Thanks for the help.

It'll last longer than paint, but I wouldn't give it six months. You really need to have them zinc plated in order for the finish to last. Powder coating is just a step up from paint, but nothing near zinc plating. The heat from the brakes under normal operating conditions is enough to make the powder coat flake off due to oxidation under it.

I pm'd him on Tuesday afternoon and he got back to me yesterday. That's when he told me that the zinc plated 2k4 rotors were on back order but that the powdercoated rotors were in stock.

i got a pretty good deal from richard at rotorpros. i bought 4 zinc plated rotors (front 04, rear 03), posiquiet pads f/r, and ss lines all for $400 picked up. if you're interested call him at 714 3093620.

directwholesaleparts.com I saw them on ebay and called.. I got 2k4 Xdrilled/slotted zinc plated rotors w/ axxis pads for the front for 159+20 shipping. They said it should be here in about a week, so screw waiting till April!!

I've had my Zinc coated iRotors on my car for over 8 months now and the hub area has not began to rust at all, even during the winter months. I've been really happy with their performance and hold-up.

My Cobra rotors which I painted w/ 400 degree engine paint have lasted 9 months (5 of which were a brutal NE winter). I think powdercoating will last longer, but obviously zinc coating is the best. Aren't 2-piece rotor hats powdercoated? They seem to last a long time.

You cant see them that close on my Cardomain site, but I had mine yellow cadmium plated and IMHO, they look a lot better than zinc. Of course, with my black anodized aluminum hats, all that remains of the cad plate is inside the rotors themselves where the cooling vanes are so it takes a sharp eye to notice, but to me, cad plate is the way to go.....zinc is too common

Ya, see the whole problem here is that aftermarket 2k4 rotors are very hard to find. What I was mentioning was that through automax_95, I can either get powdercoated right now, or I can wait two weeks and get zinc plated. That's what I meant to ask -- should I wait for the zinc, or should I just go ahead and do the powdercoating since my brakes are warped so bad that it is very difficult to brake at high speeds.

I'd say wait for the zinc. No sense going with the powdercoated ones if the zincs are only two weeks away.
