K&N vs APEXi with Berk?
Hey all,
I was about to order the Berk intake with the APEXi filter but I thought I would ask about something first. I did read through about the first 16 pages of old posts but nothing exactly about this.
So is there any real difference b/n the K&N and the apex? I know the apex is much more expensive to replace(how often by the way?) and the K&N is known to possibly have some MAF issues when over oiled but besides all that any reason to get one over the other? I dont race, pretty much just "normal" [meaning non-racing] driving for me to and fro work, gym etc...so my RPMs rarely even go over 4000 (ya its pretty boring). So high end power isnt much of an issue since i shift well before 4000. One thing I would really care about is gas MPG. Is there any increase (or decrease) with either after I get over the cool sound? I have heard there should be an overall increase with MPH over the stock intake. Any truth to this?
What shoould I go with? I cant decide?
Thanks for the help
Peace

I just ordered Berk intake with K&N filter ten minutes ago, literally. From searching the characteristic between the two filters, you basically summed up the difference...
K&N -- the K&N is known to possibly have some MAF issues when over oiled...my response to the con is dont F-up when oiling
Apexi -- expensive to replace...not worth paying close to 80 dollars everytime the filter wears out
Then again, if an orger post a very distinct difference b/w the two, i would probably lean in that direction, but from researching and reading IMO i would go with the K&N filter, just my 2 cents

So do they supply you w/ the oil for the filter too?
Do you know how often the Apexi filter would require changing?

Btw, I've had a Berk w/ K&N for about 7k miles now and haven't had any MAF issues yet...

I have a Berk with K&N, sounds great, performs excellently. Save your dough, the K&N needs "service every 50,000 -100,000 miles on street driven applications" which means you will probably NEVER have to clean it.
