intake/maf problem

Well. My FC intake install went very well, as did the first part of the test drive. I brought the rpm's up to 4000 and the car just stalled. Ses light came on when i restarted and engine was in limp mode. Now the engine starts and dies with the maf plugged in. With it unplugged the engine starts and rough idles really bad.

Anyone elses maf die 7 minutes after there intake install??

what fun is.

mine died 2 weeks after a new MAF was installed. What filter are you using? Did the idle jump all over the place? Power surges?

is the maf sensor (element) facing the air flow? are the couplers tight, especially the one on the tb?

So heres the codes i got

p1102-Manfacur control. Fuel air metering

And this one. But i think this is from unplugging the maf to see if it made a difference. Once i cleared the codes, this one didnt come back. the other one did immediatly

P0102 Maf or Vaf circuit low input

Im planning on going out and checking for leaks with a bottle of TB cleaner, But if anybody has any insite it would me very much apreciated.

By the way. Idle is rough, Its a k&n filter and the flow arrow on the maf is pointing tward the TB.

Thanks

James

Hmm.. Scary, This makes me reluctant to install my Injen this spring. I hear of more MAF issues after adding an intake on the 02's and 03's; sucks that it has to be a $500 part.

By the way, did the K&N filter seem over-oiled at all out of the package? Supposedly, the K&N filter and the 3.5L MAF don't play well together.

I have had atleast three other K&N intakes in the past and from my experience this did not appear to be over oiled..

Did you use the correct procedure for resetting the ECU after the initial install, as opposed to just unplugging the battery?

What is the correct procedure for resetting the ECU? I've installed the stillen intake , then gone to the injen CAI and back to the stillen/ frankencar setup. Every time I just disconnected the battery. Let me know if there's something else I should be doing to benefit from the intake. Thanks

i did not initially do any reset. After the problem, i went throught the ecu reset procedure in the Howto's.

I googled the code p1102 and came up with nothing. Has anyone pulled this before?

500 dollars for a MAF part...are you kidding? I hope you were referring to the injen intake.

The reset procedure for the 2002-2003 ECU can be found can here: http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/ecu.asp

And yes, a replacement MAF for the 02's and 03's will suck about $500 from your pocket. Just check out Courtesy Nissans parts site if you do not believe me.
