exhaust hangers?

i just bought the frankencar rear section exhaust. i remember hearing that the frankencar exhaust is heavier than the oem exhaust, and therefore needs better exhaust hangers. is this true? i had a 97 max with a greddy sp, and didn't need hangers. i know some of you have FC exhausts. are you having problems with the oem hangers? i heard that someone purchased nismo hangers. was this overkill, or do i really need high performace exhaust hangers for a heavier exhaust? if i need nismo, do you know of a site where i can get a fair price on them? thanks guys.

When I got my FC, they included a pair of hose clamps in the box to tighten around the stock hangers... to be honest, I drove around for about 100 miles w/o em and it seemed fine to me.... I have the hose clamps on now and they work pretty well it seems...

Ya might also wanna look into NAPA hangers... heard those were nice and beefy too....

i've had my cattman setup on for near 10k miles, my exhaust hangers are starting to flake out, i can hear the exhaust vibrating and ting a bit at idle, and definatly here some play down there when driving aggressive (i mean really aggressive) like the exhaust shifting when i corner really hard or dump the clutch etc... I would like to see about getting some stiffer ones myself.

Nismo hangers can be found on ebay from time to time.

(not for max but http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WD1V)

I've heard the Nismo hangers you can get at a dealer will work....

then you can put "Nismo" stickers on your car too

I went over a huge speedbump a couple weeks ago and it hit part of my FC exhaust. It never rattled till then, and now it keeps rattling b/c apparently it's hitting the crossmembers. Took it to 2 shops and both said that I just have to live w/it b/c they can't raise the exhaust b/c the car is too low (it would hit car's body). Would new hangers solve the problem? Had the exhaust on the stock hangers for about 20k w/o problems.

EDIT: $20 per Nismo hanger?! How many hangers do Max's need?

Are ya sure that the hangers are the only problem? For you to hit the exhaust and have it rattling after that, it seems to me that there's something else wrong with that picture. Anyways... I'm assuming those 2 shops checked everything on your exhaust in terms of hardware, flanges, hangers, whether something is bent, etc.... but I'd say double check it. Just get under the car and start shaking stuff (when its cold of course) and see where its banging and see if there's anything that looks off to you. Other than that...

Maybe try some hose clamps around the existing hangers if ya have some handy?

nismo exhaust hangers are only $10-11 dollars a piece at my nissan dealership. I believe you need 3-4 on the muffler. The ones on the b-pipe and y-pipe are different

they are not polyurethane, its just solid rubber instead of the stock ones with have empty spots

Can't lift the exhaust but you can lower the crossmembers! I used longer bolts and washers to give mine a little more room.

That's what I assume they checked. 1 of the places I went to is pretty reputable, so I guess they looked over the entire system. Don't have ramps so it's hard to get under the car, but just from shaking it, the only thing that's hitting/rattling is the part which is above the cross member. I guess you're right though, will have to get ramps and try to see myself what's going on. I can't convince myself to pay some place $70 to replace something I could do for like $10. Lowering the crossmember does sound like a good idea though. Thanks for the help guys!

Using heavy duty Acura MDX hangers here, everything seems alright. I also have Place Racing engine mounts so my exhaust doesn't shift back and forth as much. There are 3 hangers on the rear section, and 1 on the B-pipe as it curves around the gas tank. There is one more on the Ypipe section that is triangular shapped- 2 holes on top that go on the body/subframe of the car, and one hole that attaches to the Ypipe.

I had the same problem with my frankencar B and Stillen rear section. Just use some hose clamps around the stock hangers. Way cheaper than replacing the hangers themselves.
