Front strut bar question???????

I know this sound’s stupid but can i install stillen front strut bar with no problem on 03 Auto? I heard it would touch the engine when you put it in reverse. Can I use washers to raise it higher? Thanks

It does touch the top of the IM slightly in reverse. It is not a problem at any other time. Raising it a bit with washers should help. Just make sure you don't raise it so high that it contacts the hood.

Also, you know you can get a strut bar on eBay for much less right? The OTTO strut bar looks exactly like the Stillen (and probably works exactly like it too) and is usually about $40 on eBay. I have a generic one off eBay that cost $23... and yes, the eBay strut bars all work the same as the Stillen... they probably just don't look as good...

Just something to think about....

i couldn't agree more. i got my otto from ebay. paid $50 or so with shipping. the seller was procarparts or something. i believe they raised the price and shipping since i bought it. because the two auctions they had after mine when i was looked were more expensive.

I filed down the small portion of the intake manifold that was rubbing the bar. Problem fixed and you can't tell that it had been filed down.

As far as I know... RSTBs from eBay have worked in the past...

As for the clear corners... ya can't really go wrong with em... just make sure you epoxy the edges to no condensation will occur on the inside...

Ya don't always have to... some fit better than others... but if ya don't wanna take the chance, then just do it regardless. Mine aren't epoxied, and they're fine, but many people have had condensation as a result of not doing it... its your call...

Thanks a Lot. Not sure if i should go wit the clear corners on front and stock red on back, or get the smoked ones from custommax for front and keep rear red.

the smoked ones would look too dark on a silver max IMO...and quit whoring the thread.

there's a whole long thread about smoked side markers here: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=384461
