2nd 5th gen carbon fiber trunk install! and some other pics
First, I KNOW the trunk needs to be aligned better. when me and my friends sit down and have a day on the weekend to think about this, it will be done. this is just to show people what it looks like on a grey luster, and plus im antsy. the first few pics were taken with my friends Sony camera, thats why they are better. the other few pics were takin on a rainy day last week sometime, so sorry for the bad quality. Enjoy them tho! Lemme know what you guys think.

Hey, you know what might help......if there are any stops on the body of the car where the trunk meets the car. Remove those and see if the trunk closes better. Not sure if there are any of those pieces or not though, never looked at my trunk enough.

the trunk isnt sitting right period. when you push down on it, it lines up perfectly, so the fitment you see now doesnt reflect how it actually will fit. when you push down on the lid itself, the lines from the 1/4 panels, above the tail lights, flows right across like the stock trunk lid. we need to adjust the trunk arms, as well as weight the trunk slightly, and remove one torsion bar.
also, in the top corner, drivers side, FedEx damaged my trunk, so that corner is not correct. im waiting for Jose to get back to me about my replacement, if thats what you mean Irish.

im determined to get that to sit right. i know i can do it, we just need to put our heads together one day. im sure me and my friends coulda figured it out if i didnt need to spend an hour dremeling out the holes for the lights, and if it wasnt dark out by that point.
i LOVE my eyelids on my smoked headlights. Thanks.
as far as the y pipe and exhaust, i called a few places just to inquire about how much installing the entire thing would cost, which seemed to come to about $80. i dont want them messing with extending the o2 sensor wires, if needed, so im just gonna ask today about torching off the bolts, like you said. most places just said show up tho, no appt. needed, so i may do that.

if we drop the stock latch all the way down, then yes, it does fit fine...until i open the trunk. it wont close again at that point, which is what we need to look into. it just comes right back up again, it wont latch, like the bottom of the trunk is hitting before it gets to the latch. i can assure you guys that i will get this thing to fit right.
however, i hope Jose from Ionic Dynamics reads this thread, and also gets back to me about the damage done to the trunk in shipping.

well kcmc when i put mine on i had to raise to lower latch for it to lock, then after if was locked n closed i had to go from the backseat into the trunk. Then had my friend push on the trunk as far as he could go then i tighten the lower latch bolts at that point . I think thats the best ur gonna get if it works for u mine sits pretty flush n thats what did , just thought i'd give u this idea.
But ya after that i dont think ur gonna be to open n close it like normal cause i dont think it will lock again wit the latch that low . I just left mine as is so far , i dont really use my trunk anyways wit my sub in there anyways.

thats exactly what we did. but when he got the latch low enough, for it to line up right where it should, after we popped the trunk and tried to close it again, it wouldnt latch. thats what was driving us nuts. i was even thinkin about somehow tryin to weigh down that side of the trunk, but i dont think that will work. we will look at it more this weekend i think, when its nice and bright out. maybe it might come time to bend the arm slightly.
do you have pics of how yours sits and lines up and all? or are you not talkin about a 5th gen?

that looks really good tho bro, it lines up damn near perfect. but you said you cant shut it again once you open it? i think im gonna shim the drivers side of mine first, so it sits perfectly level, then lower the latch as much as i can.

so mity, are we correct in understanding that yours is shut so that if you pop your trunk, you cannot close it again without moving the latch? i can do that with mine, but i just am not sure if i want to.

ya cause everytime we tried closin it wit the lower latch all the way down it wont catch at all, but when we raised it closed right. So like i was sayin we closed it i had to go inside the trunk from the backseat n my friend push the trunk down as far i will go and i just tightened the lower latch like that . So im pretty sure if i opened my trunk it wouldnt close again , i was thinkin bout cuttin one of the torsion bars off n see if that would help. Cause there is alot of tension n i was maybe thinkin it might help out some , im just kinda nervous takin one of those bars off. But ya my car is mostly just for show so i really have no use for the trunk anyways so it doesnt bother me that much.
