Sway bar for an SE?

I know that the SE has stiffer suspension than the GLE and GXE models, so I'm guessing a sway bar would have less of an effect on it. I wouldn't be using the car for anything other than normal driving (although I do drive pretty fast a lot) so my question is: would a sway bar still give a pretty noticible difference for an SE?

I have a SE and it made a huge difference in my handling (Progress...but they're all pretty much the same)

You will notice the difference while taking the turns. Flat or less roll almost like a sports car. Although you could get an even stiffer suspension.

I switched to Stillen because the Progress was making this annoying klunk whenever i went over a speed bump, driveways and dips in the freeway. Because the bar is mounted to the axel, the control arm snaps it back into place causing the klunk. There are steps to prevent this but it will loose the effectiveness of the sway bar. Since the Stillen does not mount to the axel, there is no klunk at all.

Both sway bars will perform the same. Progress is cheaper. But i like the Stillen since it doesn't make noise.

I don't have a heavily modded car but I put on the progress RSB and holy crap what a difference. I got it on a GD on this board for 109 (128 shipped i think).

I believe in them. Especially, lane changes on the highway are more definitive. Reduces roll a little, but the fstb along with the sway reduced my body roll significantly. To completed the box, lowering would be the next step. But, definately invest in the sway bar, and if you don't like it then sell it to Puppetmaster for half the price.

Forgive my ignorance, but is a sway bar and a front shock tower brace the same thing? If so, will it reduce understeer in my Max? I would like the Max to oversteer rather than understeer. Any suggestions? My car is bone stock and I would like to maintain the ride quality. Thanks in advance for your help.

They are not the same thing... see here for some short descriptions:

https://maxima.org/faq-5-Suspension.html

If you'd like more oversteer, then get a rear sway bar (RSB). An RSB will lead to a more sensitive tail end, so it may seem slightly more lively and bumpy since the rear suspension is tightened up.

Also, do a search for more threads that discuss this in greater detail, there are many out there. Details on how to search using Google or Yahoo (since you're not a donating member, the site's built in search function will not work for you) are in the Stickies, as is a lot more useful info in the FAQs, How-Tos, etc...

Not correct - the Panhard bar makes the noise by hitting the RSB clamp, and this can be avoided by placing the multi-beam clamps close together. This has very little impact in the effectivess of the sway bar, it's the placement of the trailing arm clamps that makes a difference. I have the Cattmann bar, works great, zero clunk.

I got the stillen Rear Sway Bar, and i thought that was the best handling mod, I suggest getting it. i Felt it as soon as i installed it and put it in drive.. I once took a turn and i was flooring it, i put it to the max and almost lost it, but i didnt because the rear sway bar caught on and kept me on the road.. But Dont try what i did until you get used to it and feel what your max can handle...

RSBs or FSTBs? RSBs can be hard to find.... the OTTO FSTB is the same as Stillen's but it just says OTTO... as far I can tell...

Got the same problem... but this summer, on the other hand! Lowering springs, RSB, and a whole lotta other goodies to come! The FSTB did, however, make a HUGE difference on it's own.
