problems with car starting

my 2000 maxima auto has not started 2 times in the past couple of weeks. For it to start you have to put it in neutral then it will start right up. It will not even try with it in park. What could this be?

I just got the transmission redone, could that be it?

hmmm, dude thats sounds really messed up actually.Im sure its an easy fix, i would take it back to where you had the tranny redone and question them and have them re look at their work to make sur thye did everything right. Its obviously not that starter. I think its bening tricked, possibly it thinks you are in gear already.

they are going to be real helpful. I just made a bad comment about them with nissan and they said the dealership will be getting the complaint.

most likely a problem w/ your neutral safety switch. This switch is normally connected to the transmission linkage or directly on the transmission. Since you had transmission work done, take it back to them and have them fix it.
