Dissapointed, I have to leave the Maxima Community

Hey guys, its been a great 7 months here on the .org but I have to give my mom the Infiniti I30 and Ill be getting another car in a few months. That means I have to sell all my stuff for the 5th gen, I will post a thread in the for sale section. Again thanks to all the moderators and members for their insight on these cars. I will be still regularly posting because the Infiniti will still be within the family.

yeah im planning to stay within the nissan family though...ill be really dissapointed if my dad says to get a maxima and sell all my stuff hahaha...thinking about a 97-98 240sx or the new acura rsx type s blah who knows, any recommendations on a newer 4 cylinder car that is nice, only reason for 4 cylinders is because i have long commutes on the 405...and the 101...the two worst freeways in America.

If you want to stay in the Nissan family and go with a 4cyl, you could consider the SE-R (2.5L Sentra). That way you get better fuel economy than you do with your I30/Maxima, but you don't have to give up the feeling of torque on tap completely. The QR25 is no VQ30 or VQ35, but it's got some punch for a 4cyl.

The SE-R, like the 5.5th gen Maxima, is a throttle by wire car (no throttle cable), and it has very good aftermarket support if you want to mod it.

try this

what about an 05 ALTIMA 2.5? It has four cylinders and is nice, it gets about 28 mpg... Not too bad and you don't lose much performance, that car is damn quick for a 4 banger...

The Altima is nice, and it gives you lots of room like the Maxima/I30, but it's heavier than the Sentra SE-R, and it's powered by the same engine (QR25DE). It may also be tuned slightly less aggressively, since it can run on 89, while the SE-R asks for premium fuel. Both cars get good mileage, but you might want to go with the Altima to save a few cents on each fill up.

^ we have an 05 alti in the family (the younger sister), it's quite nice. the interior absolutely ***** on the 5.5 gen (comparing cloth to cloth and no auto temp control for both). the only thing my car has over my sister's is the motor... Her tranny isn't of high quality either though, but that car MOVES. from a stop when you just stomp on it w/o break torquing the tires break loose a good amount. I would say it's *almost* as fast my mom's 02 TL non s from a stop but of course higher speeds the TL would own it. I like driving the alti around sometimes cuz the soft suspension and higher profile tires allow me to hit bumps and dips however the f*ck i want haha. I'm not gonna lie the new accord "drives" a little bit better, it has a better engine. The interior of the altima is better though and i think styling is pretty much the same (not the best lol) but the altima is faster so what can i say..

I'd consider the 2005 Legacy GT as well... I test drove it and its much much nicer than the WRX, esp if ya care about the quality of the interior... for more comments... check out the threads in the Other Cars forum...

Yes the legacy if def a sweet car but i am trying to keep it in the 25,000 and under range, i think thats what he wants, the faster legacy starts at 26,000. My friend got a fully loaded WRX for 26 and change out the door, heated seats, sunroof, etc. But hey if you have the dough you are right the the Legacy GT with 250 horses, sweeeeettt

Do yourself a favor and drive the legacy. I did and when I do sell my maxima that is what I will buy. I was quoted $24,500 for a brand new
5-speed legacy GT. If you want a sleeper try to find a leftover forester XT. They are not much to look at but they haul and can be had for under 22k.

VWs have been nothing but trouble for me... never getting another one... I had a 1997 Golf and now have a 2000 Passuck... they both stink and maintenence is an expensive PITA... they are nice to drive and mod and everything, but I don't think its worth it unless ya got tons of cash to dump.

i'd just get a used s4...the 2.7 biturbo

and how does the altima not have enough performance? it's a freakin econo sedan. it's faster than an accord so i don't understand that statement.

Well i know what he is talking about, the 4 cyl altima has only 175hp and weighs over 3000lbs. The 6 cyl altima is sweet but the 4 is a little slow. The sentra which weighs 300+ lbs less has the same amount of hp. It "ain't" slow per say when compared to other cars in the same class but with the way todays sports sedans are evolving it isn't a car you would really pick to take to a drag race.
