my parents said that they will prolly get me a 2003 max for graduation which is in 3 months ! I want a black 1 w/ black leather seats 6 speed more than anything....but my question is wat do they run? I've heard 0-60 in like 6 but then i heard like 6.6. And q/t i've heard 14.6 and 14.9 or something like that. So can any1 answer wat does a stock 2003 Max run? thanks

Umm...different drivers get different times. There is no set time that a car will run, only an average estimate.

C&D or Road & Track (can't remember which) ran a 2k2 SE 0-60 in 6 seconds flat. 2k3 (I think) Altima manny ran 5.9.

C&D did and to the original poster good manual driver should hit low 14's and the autos run mid to high 14's stock.

Just curious....what does the Max run time have to do with you buying one? Are you goin to be racing the Max all the time?

I agree with MONTE...i'd say 14.2 if your good....and the norm is about 14.4 and up....this is considering the drag strip is well prepped, low temperatures/humidity, and sea level tracks....anything different will yield various times....

Who cares...a maxima is a nice car....very comfortable and spacious...the engine has been rated by ward's auto for 10 best engines for over 10 yrs straight.....

Oh, c'mon now guys, I really doubt that you've never mentioned to a friend or anybody that your Max has a nice powerplant. Granted, this kid shouldn't be concerned about a 0.6 second difference in 0-60 times, but nonetheless, we've all bragged at some point or another that our car is fast.

Anyway, to the original poster, if you like the car, you shouldn't be worrying about a few tenths of a second. The Maxima is fast compared to just about any other full-sized sedan even near it's price range for 2003. It's also fairly luxurious and very roomy to boot. For a teen getting his first car, it's definitely a sweet ride. Good luck with your decision.

Just out of curiosity, do your "parents suck" for other reasons, or merely because they didn't buy you a car for graduation...?

Good call again Du. Whatever helps to influence him into the Max world. Whether it be speed, acceleration, look etc. or all of the above. Welcome.

The problem w/ half gen cars is the lack of thorough magazine coverage. However, if it helps, the 2002/03 Maxima did get a write-up in the following:
Autoweek 08/21/01
Automobile December 2001
C&D October 2002
MotorTrend August 2001, November 2001, March 2002
R&T May 2001
C&D must have had something in 2001 but I can't find it...

The 2002/2003 Maxima's are the best bang for the buck that still gives a little luxury and refinement. There are not too many four-door, six-speed rockets out there for the price. We get all the luxury options and comfort along with the ability to embarass a lot of other cars that are not even in our weight class or price range. Maxima's give people the best of both worlds with speed and luxury, and they do it with a pretty good balance of the two. I use my car for work and pleasure. It looks nice enough and sounds quiet enough to take a client on a business dinner, yet it can get you going over 100MPH in seemingly no time. How many other cars can you go get groceries with, tote around a child, and then take to the track to do 14 second quarter mile blasts with? I know a couple beemers and mercedes that can do that, but for the price of a 540i sport, you could have a Maxima with a turbo, full race suspension, big brake upgrade, and just about anything else out of a Stillen or Cattman catalogue with money to spare for speeding tickets. I was going to buy a 330ci until I drove the 2002 Maxima (I bought it on the spot, love at first sight), then the idea of spending over ten thousand dollars more for the beemer just to get a fancy name plate felt foolish. I had a roughly $45k budget for my new car, and I ended up with my black Maxima. Love my car. If your parents are that kool, and they are gonna hook you up with a 2003 se, then you better kiss their *** for the rest of their lives, and prove to them that you deserve it. I'm starting to sound old. That sucks. And for the love of God-> get a six-speed. Good luck.
