Rear Bumper - Scratched by Trunk Lid

Hello,

I did a search on this forum for this but surprisingly nothing came up. This is TSB 00-055 issued in JULY 2000. I have an 00 SE. It seems that near the center of the bumper where the trunk lid meets it, there's some major friction/starting to cause rust and they hit together pretty hard. I think the design was pretty bad here. Anyone know of a workaround?

I was thinking of putting a rubber lining on the trunk lid so it doesn't smack the bumper so hard!

Thanks for the input..

Weird. I've never heard about this. Don't think my lid hits my bumper. (But I'll check the next time I'm outside.) The rubber strip sounds like a good, simple solution.
