You're probably right... the Injen does arguably look the best in the engine bay.... but that's about it, besides, you yourself said it "kicks *** nice sound nice look" and nothing about performance...

But to each his own....

I also have the stillen high flow intake and added the frankencar midpipe. I love the setup. I might change the filter to apexi, but I have heard mixed opinions on the apexi filter. Also a great intake is the place racing cold air intake, you have to drill into the fender but heard it provides great reults in perfomance.

Alternatively, one could get the Frankencar intake or Berk intake, which come with a midpipe as part of the set-up...

When you say "Best", that could mean different things for different people, whether it's looks, sound, performance, pr a combonation of all of this, or lack thereof in either of the specified ranking categories.

I would like looks, sound and performance combined, but the main thing is sound and performance....performance coming first.

Place Racing...looks nice and is the only true CAI (besides cattman i guess which appears to be identical to the PR but i may be wrong) I've heard many intake setups and I like my PR the best especially with the y-pipe but it also sounded very nice before i added that

I did some research last night and found that the CAttman is a very popluar intake and works and acts and is designed to be just like the place racing intake. PLace, injen, berk and frankencar seem to be the leaders in this game of intakes. I mean this is just my personal opinion, i would go witht the cattman with the monsterflow filter. My buddy has the place on his 97 and its amazing, the cattman for the 5th generation have gotten good rating. whcihever intake you chose is solely up to you and is opinion based. Tehyll all give good results.

Let's just admit it: ALL intakes for the maximas basically do squat. The stock intake is open enough that the aftermarket really can't improve the airflow. My InJen adds about as much hp as my redlinemax.com sticker, but, as stated above, it's not necessarily about performance, it's about sound and chrome. Look at my car domain page and see if you think it's worth the money to buy an injen.

Edit: better yet, here:

totally Bauer you are right. look and sound is the biggets things to consider. That why ive found place and cattman to be the best right now. Place sounds meaner then hell and actually coudl do some good due to the place it is located and same can be said about cattman. no hot air as i said last night. Lees hot air= better performance. Still sound and look over rides that note!

No, man, that would make the air/fuel mixture WAY too lean. I have to upgrade my injectors first.

It's cool. Didn't see that "Friends". In fact, I make sure to avoid that show all together. I'm afraid it'll make me have the urge to go bake something.
