6 Spd clutch pedal squeeking
I will keep it simple. When I press in the clutch pedal I hear a squeeking noise coming from my engine bay. Sounds like a spring that needs oil. I am not sure what the hell it could be. The car seems to be going into gears without a problem. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark

This seems to happen everytime I'm at a drive thru for ice coffee or something. I don't usually hear it when I'm on the road because of traffic noise or my radio. It is so annoying. I'm trying to find something to cure it. I'm hoping one of the guru's can tell me where to spray some wd-40 because it seems like that's all it would take. Nothing seems to be wrong, but the noises sucks.

Triple8Sol- The noise you were describing (clicking like a relay) is not what my car is doing. I think you had a different problem. This noise is in no way a clicking, but it is a squeeking. Sounds like an old rocking chair. Or like a hinge on a fence door that needs to be oiled. I agree it sounds like something just needs some WD40, but I am not sure what.

anyone with the problem going to try the slave cylinder- or are yall waiting for a walkthru?
if that doesn't need to be greased, check the clutch cable bearing's shaft drive assembly reservoir.

my guy at nissan took my intake out and lubricated something under the intake. Not sure exactly where or what, but it seems like the cable is in some type of housing and when the cable moves it makes the sqeak.
hope I make sense.

New to the forum and I enjoy the read. I picked up my 02 Merlot SE w/ 6 speed & everything but navi a couple of weeks ago, great car and I love the interior. Only mod is the AE sills but I would like tinted windows. I wish the brake pedal was another 1/2" or so to the left, my big feet at 45 deg on the gas gets caught up on the brake pedal.
I also have the squeak with the clutch, generally can only hear when car is parked-engine off. What's this talk about cables, our max's have hydraulic clutches - that little bowl in the top right corner of the engine bay.
Need to have someone press the clutch while you listen, is it coming from inside or outside the tranny? I planned to look for it this weekend. I'll post my findings...
Cheers

is the throw out bearing a part that should go bad after only 58K miles. I am trying to find it in the parts catalog without much luck.
Edit: After searching I think I found it. It is called a "Clutch Release Bearing". I priced it out at $23. Is this about right igor? That is all I need to buy to make the stupid noise go away?

My noise is now 80% gone. Not as bad as it was. After using the grease it started to fade. I imagine that I hit part of the spot and the heat is causing the grease to slowly work it's way in.
Igor was right, you just got to get some grease in there and work it out.

What a coincidence this subject came back up...My car which was doing the same thing at 27000 miles (which the dealer changed the throw out bearing which IS the problem.. No amount of lubing will fix this problem..NOW my car which has 54000 miles has been at the dealer for a week so far because when car is iding foot off clutch you can hear a whining sound like a bearing that is bad..First I thought it ws a belt pulley because it made the same sound on my 93.. But then I realized when I pressed on the clutch it went away...Come to find out its the main bearing in the transmission that went bad lucky me its covered under the powertrain 5/60 warantee..if not I was looking at 1300 bucks..mostly labor at 97$ per hour

No, this sounds like a different issue. You have the howling clutch, not the squeeky pedal. The howling clutch sounds like a squirrel is stuck in your engine when you let off the clutch on acceleration or put it in, etc.
The issue that I am having and a couple others here have mentioned is that no mater what or where, when they depress the clutch there is a slight squeek that comes from the bell housing that sounds like an old rocking chair. I have had both, and even had my whole tranny replaced a couple years ago because of the dying squirrel. They are distinct and different.
