Praxiss by BridgeStone did the air ride for WRXs. I rode in a few bagged cars and I thought it was pretty nice. I don't have anything against it, and I like the idea. All the hatters here need to chill da funk out. Hes actually doing something inovative here, I'm sick of reading posts bout gay lights, spoilers, and how someones MAF or coils are dying at 3405020020 miles and they are too fukn cheap to pay for repleacement so they get a petition for everyone to sign. I hope Nissan just sends every one of them people that signed the petition a big ole F-U in red letters.

alright, got the fronts on today no problem. the lines got ran and secured. then i started running into problems. lost prestolok fittings from parker- whose distributor is closed saturday followed by lackluster home depot compression fittings. found a solution to that problem, solved any leaks and finalized wiring. but as it sits right now- its not road worthy.

tomorrow morning i should finish it up, im posting a new pic but it isnt linkable so yall will have to check out the photo album yourselves to see the slammed front and back.

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/morgan.../ph//my_photos

thanks for all the interest and compliments; both good and bad.

not bad to have ride height control at the touch of a button. However, how rough/stiff is the ride with this setup? for me personally if would not be worth the money, i prefer as close t oa stock ride as possible. but its cool, congrats. you have an up close pic of the bags themselve ?

I agree 4get what they say, they just jealous they dun got money to do it....if I could I would too...is there anyway you can preset the heights? like when ignition off it drops to the ground n ignition it raises to a comfy driving height?

I think it looks real sexy. Specially when you pull into a mall parking lot or you park in the street, and just hit the switches and tuck in ur tires. That's pretty nice. . What's next on your list? Are you going complete show car?

motivation

noun : (1) the psychological feature that arouses an organism to action toward a desired goal; the reason for the action; that which gives purpose and direction to behavior (2) waking up at 7:30AM on a Sunday in order to finish the work on your maxima

figured out my leak problem, stupid valves and stupider fittings. i need to run an inline switch and fuse to the compressor, so i can control the fill. as it sits now, ive got the valves available to run a front back side side, but only have it wired up for four corner up and down. at a later date, if i get bored with stunting 101- i'll wire up some three wheel motion and graduate to stunting 102.

also figured out a way to get some video up here late tonite. but only if yall are on your best behavior.

well i drove it today, all the way to the uconn show. once you find the sweet spot for the front and back to be set at, it cruised nicely, i even thought some road conditions felt smoother than stock. but seeing as i haven't any pressure gauges yet, that sweet spot was harder to find.

to consider this project finished i need to find a method to fill each bag to a preset pressure, to find the sweet spot. until then, it will be a modification- and not considered a part of the car.

all in all, not too many problems after the test run. a slow leak that empties the bags and a larger - quieter compressor would help.

Is there not a device (maybe from Dakota Digital) that monitors each bag individually? That would be sweet, plus i read somewhere this system has like 3 preset levels for which you can set (ie, low rider, crusiing, and some other setting)..

I was told that on bags your car rides like stock, but doesnt handle any better (i could be wrong)... Iw ish i bagged my max... but other $$ priorities in play righ tnow

mrmj- got the innovator valves from EAI, parker 1/2" lines and fittings, uni-air mcpherson bags, and four extra sirai 1/2" valves. check excentrixauto.com

pearl- its a daily driver. ive got that maxima, a supra project car, and three family cars at my disposal. plus a yamaha blaster big bore and a bmx bike. plenty of options.

mini- dakota digital's lineup is kinda pricey, but if this becomes a more permanent part of my car i would definitely go that route. ive seen their four corner pressure gauges and they are dope. it would look great retrofitted to the dash clock or sunglass holder.

chris- thanks for the encouragement cousin.

thanks to everyone for the compliments, but it looks like this topic is spent. so in closing- yall know whose got the lowest maxima, hollar at your dog like theres sh*t on the carpet!

very nice... so did u get bags all around?

I have canisters in the rear which sometimes ride a bit bouncy... they have digital gauges that read all four corners... i may switch though to the analog read outs...

i see no problem with this mod at all. i dont see how this is ghetto, but using Tein coils or GCs or anything else is perfectly ok? so those people have to get out and use a wrench to drop the car another inch, lux can do it from inside the car. what is the problem? i think its great that he is being one of the first to do this, and its a good show mod, like someone said, to just lay it on the ground and tuck the tires. yes, its true im not feeling the rims either, but its an easy "fix" if he wants to change it.

so i give ya lots of respect lux. for doing it yourself and for doing something different

i got the entire kit from EAI (excentrixauto.com) about a year and a half ago at sponsor pricing for my 97 maxima at the time. the kits are pretty standard, you could piece a better one together yourself honestly. the air struts are generic- warranted, brand name and load tested- but generic in design. the kit i have will basically bolt into any mcpherson style suspension which has struts smaller than 2.1" in diameter. i had to fab up a couple of pieces- mounts for the bags and modify strut perches.

basically you need-

air tank. mines only 3 gallons- when full thats enough for me to go max lift (4" wheel gap), slammed, and back to ride height on all four corners at once.

lines and fittings. i used 1/2" from parker, but 3/8" is equally feasible. parker only deals in pneumatics and hydraulics and are readily available from distributors. dont use compression fittings with the brass circles- theyre garbage.

compressor. i got a thomas compressor, its kinda slow and loud. takes almost 4 minutes to fill the tank. after morning startup i only need maybe a minute before i can fill the bags enough to drive. its not loud enough to be heard running over open windows or the stereo at smedium volume. yes i said smedium.

valves. this depends on what you're trying to do. if you want to go crazy with switches and front back side side pancake three wheel etc you need more. right now im running two EAI innovator valves- one per axle. ive got four sirai valves waiting for when i get bored.

im reworking all of the trunk, ill post pics this afternoon.

triple- yes, one switch up down. i just wired both the valves up parallel for now. i've got four more valves and switches waiting to be installed- but i will wait until im bored again to use them. i wanted a nice clean install, not a bulky switch box full of toggles or a goofy ps2 controller. if anything, ill fab up a mounting plate in the armrest for two gauges (one per axle) and extra switches- to keep it clean.

mac and others- i like my wheels, just my style, they look tough in my opinion and thats the image i was going for. if i didnt have these wheels it would be some amg style plates or something beefy looking. in my opinion more than six spokes, mesh, and anything skinny doesnt look right on such a large car. but thats just what i think, and my opinion shouldn't matter to anyone who owns anything like that.

a33 and lithium- thanks yall. dope indeed, this maxima is pure rock.
