Scanned the boards today getting information on the latest Maxima. Have the brake/hesitation with manual transmission TSB issues been resolved for the 2001 model year? Seems that folks with 2K vehicles are the ones having the problems. I assume since TSBs were issued, they made the changes to the production line?

I got my rotors resurfaced today. The service manager said that the some 2k maxes had a bad batch of rotors that warped prematurely....it seemed that the 2k1 models were not affected by what he told me....but he may not know what he is talking about either....

Clarify, beanboy. Are you referring to the brake rotor problem or the engine detonation/hesitation problem? If you're talking about the former, there is a TSB covering it. If you're talking about the latter, there is no TSB covering it. Just a confirmation of the problem from a lead engineer at NNA.

The cause of the problem is usually a faulty ignition coil. Nissan has resolved the issue in production and in parts. In some instances, they've been willing to exchange coils to eliminate the problem They also appear to have developed a fix that involves an ECM exchange, although I have no idea how that works.

Was talking about both, seems to be the two biggest issues that late model Maxima folks are dealing with, along with paint problems. Is the hesitation with a manual Max at low RPM a different issue than the coil/detonation problem?
