just wondering when you put on new rotors, is it better for you to change the pads also?? and why is that?

because my steering wheel is shaking and my friend is recommanded me to change the rotors and pads...cuz i dont want him to rip off my a$$.....

I'm going to say yes. Not sure if this is exactly right, but the break in part of the new rotor comes from the pads leaving material on the rotor. New pads are more coarse.

Also, if your old pads are in any way uneven, it will affect the rotor's performance.

 

so will this cause the rotor to be warped?? or it's just gonna affect the stopping power??

because when i put on my new rotors, i didn't replace the pads...so they were warped after about 3k miles....could this be the uneven brake pads?

 

Unless your pads are new I would replace them when you change the rotors. For the cost ($50) might as well start new and break them in together. I just spent $173 replacing my front rotors and pads. Good Luck.

traveling back from ny to north carolina my back passenger side wheel started making a while driving and when the brake was applied could this be a warped rotor?have a 2003 maxima with 36000 miles on it brake pads look fine

 

actually you should unless the pads are new. Why go thru the hassle of doing the job twice. This is the main reason why it is done. But if you still have "good Old Pads" like we said in spanish" Con Carne = With Meat" then you shouldn't.

 

Definately change the pads, even if you use New stock pads. It's not worth the headaches if the old pads end up messing up the new rotors. The mechanic has to take apart the calipers to get to the rotors, so it's the perfect time to change the pads. If you want decent pads, grab Hawk pads, they are a little pricey ($110 for front and rear), but they are real nice. Some people would say that they are straight butta.
