Help with Paint

Hello all,

I posted this here since all the other forums are locked. 2002 6sp SE maxima with Sterling Mist paint.

Question: Has anyone had a paint issue with the dealerships/Nissan regarding "black spots" coming through the paint? I intially thought it was tar, but rubbing compound does not work and 2000 wet/dry sandpaper ended up going through the clear to the primer! I used elbow grease and did not do this very hard. I usually do this to take out slight scratches.

Anyway, the dealership is telling me that I "must have gotten something on the paint." BS. This is garaged and covered when not in use. Like I said this is coming UP through the clear and is happening in several areas on the car, most notably on the hood and front quarter panels.

If you have done battle and want to share the paperwork, please submit post or email me at dsbk99@hotmail.com.

Thanks,
Dave

I believe those black spots are the base primer which will usually show when you get rock chips, etc.

I have it on my Sterling mist 01, dealer and Nissan did not even look at it and said they wont do anything as they only warranty for 36K, BS , manual says 60K most places offer 100K on paint.

Ain't it the truth

Figures... I will be doing battle again tomorrow. I still have another 1200 miles before the car is out of warranty, but the time limit expires next Monday. Aside from the paint issue and one really good rock chip, the car is immaculate, but stock. No dings. Anyway, may be looking for a good paint guy in the pensacola area. Dealerships pretty much suck. Will post my results later.

For bsetiawan, I agree the black may be the primer coming through, but it may not have adhered to the metal. And in the location it is at on my car, it definitely was not caused by rock chips.

Talk at ya later...
