Just got a 2001 AE (grey lustre). I live near the gulf coast, and the bugs at night are terrible. I am posting to ask how I can protect the front of my car (grill, bumpers, and hood/paint) from these bugs. A bra won't fit the AE, and a hood cover won't protect the whole front end. Will wax protect the finish? How serious is bug residue for paint? How quickly should it be removed? I would appreciate any suggestions, ideas, and solutions for this problem.
Thanks!

I am not sure, but I think there is a guy on this board who has a bra on his AE. But, I would try to wash them off AT LEAST once a week, probably more. I don't think it is too terribley bad for the paint, it just looks like **** on the car.

Congrats on the car. Check out the "how to clean your max" sticky thread at the top of this forum for more info.

As Kev stated, there's plenty of opinions up in the sticky. I can tell you that I have pretty much the same problem (except probably the size of the bugs... isn't everything bigger in TX? )

Anyway, I used to have to use some pretty decent elbow grease to clean my front bumper. But after using the Zaino products, all it takes now is a simple swipe of the towel I use for cleaning and - boom - they're gone.

I wouldn't let them sit too long. Who knows what they're made of.

Good luck.

You might try my favorite product, Diamond Brite which is a teflon paint sealant. Not only protect you paint, but it will make bug removal easier.

Call 1-800-334-8388.

I've used it for years and don't miss not having to wax my cars.

Apparently God made bugs sorta, kind-of, water soluable... I just soak them for a bit before washing the car, and they seem to come right off without any damage to the paint...

AE bra

Some one on here has an AE with a bra from www.saddleman.com I think he paid $47.
Does that count as a mod?

I just went to www.saddleman.com and the LeBra Custom Hood Protector is $42.99 for the Max. How much for some of that Diamond Brite? What about Cubic Zirconia Brite?
