I cleaned each part with soap and water. Then wiped each part down with alcohol. Then used 2 coats of Sterling Mist paint and 2 coats of clear coat. I think it came out pretty good..

Yes all parts were painted by me. I am painting more parts as we speak. I'm going to paint the side vents as soon as I can figure out how to get them off.

i know how you feel about chemistry man.......this is my break from it also. Do ya'll think spraying the interior pieces chrome on a pearl max would look good? Kinda like the chrome that is around the shifter (in my car atleast).

I used a spray bottle. There's a shop here in town that mixes paint. They can do any color as long as you have the paint code. They made it specificly for painting plastic pieces. It bonds real good. I took everything apart before I painted it. I didn't have to mask anything off. The middle vent piece was pretty easy to take apart. Anybody know how to get the side vents off? I don't want to break them.

I was going to get a dash kit but none of them covered everything like I wanted them too. The first time I decided paint I just painted the switch covers. I painted them brushed aluminum to match the shifter. (Pics are below) Then I just thought well why not try to paint them the same color as the car. I think it looks better in my opinion than any dash kit out.

The Aluminum paint I used before matched the piece around my shifter pretty good. My piece isn't chrome though. It would have matched even better if I would have clear coated it.

i like it. i always have bad luck trying to paint trim pieces of my interior in any of my cars, so with the max, i've decided to just leave it alone + i already have the titanium package, and getting the cf molded dash kit anyways.

I have the titanium package too, but I would love to have the dash vent pieces (not center piece) to match the radio trim and all. I also think that it would look 10000000000X better on a darker interior. If only I had the time and money to do this on my car.

Hey y2KAOSMax,

That looks great, man! Nice work!

Are you going to be at the May 1st Harrisburg meet? I hope so. I'd like to check those pieces out in person.

Thanks. Yeah I'll be there. I just finished the console part with the ashtray. Looks good except for the last coat of paint that I put on the ashtray cover ran a little so I have to sand that down and repaint it. I'll post pics when I get off work. Does anybody know how to get the side vents off? I really want to paint those.

I tried that but it won't pop out and I didn't want to try any harder b/c I don't want to break it. I wasn't sure if someone on here might have taken them out before.

Wow! That looks good. Yeah, as far as taking/removing the side vents on the dash, I believe they are held in by clips or fasteners. The only the way to get back there is to remove the entire dash and pop them out from the back. I wouldn't try to use a screwdriver to pry the vents from the front, though, because you may ruin the dash. I believe this is so, but anybody, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
