I replied to a post in the GB section of the board and Paul from Avalon Racing sounded interested and capable of handling 7+ people for a discount. He didn't say how much, but I've dealt with him before and he's a good person to deal with.

Anybody interested?

What about just getting the RSB??? I already have the FSTB, but I am very interested in the RSB. Well, either way, try to get the prices and count me in.

Yes, I saw the page. However, there wasn't any deal for the FSTB or RSB shown. I will see what Paul from Avalon responds to my email, before I decide what to do. I want to see if I can get the 7+ people interested before I try too hard on this. Do you have any details or prices yet?

If the price is right, count me in for a rear sway bar. We are talking a rear sway bar for a 5th generation Maxima , right?

I'd be definitely interested in the RSB and possibly the FSTB (if the cost is competitive with the Courtesy one)

Thanks

Manacer, I only inquired about 5th gen Stillen FSTB and RSB.

To-the-Max-ima, These are Stillen products from a authorized Stillen dealer, so there is no way the price will go sub $100 like the Courtesy bar. They both probably perform the same, so you should decide if the extra $$ is worth the looks and name.

Everyone, Thanks for the interest! I don't think we will have a problem getting 6+myself in for this deal. For the people who want one or the other I don't know how that will work, since he usually ships things in the same box. I'll see if he will still give a price brake on them individually if we order enough stuff though.

I'm still waiting to hear from Paul at Avalon and as soon as I do, you will know what the prices will be and if the GB will happen. If he doesn't email me today I will call him on Monday. Check back Monday evening for more details.

just to let ya'll in on a lil secret. stillen doesn't really do group buys on their own products, such as rsb and fstb, however they do tend to help ppl set up group buys with non stillen products, such as tokiko shocks and eibach springs, etc. or at least that's what the representativeS at stillen told me when i swung by there not too long ago.

Please help clarify for me...
If the only difference between the Stillen FSTB and Courtesy FSTB is color and name, why buy the more expensive one? Put differently, is there an advantage to buying the Stillen FSTB over the Courtesy FSTB?

I definitely am interested in the FSTB mod, but would like to save a few shekels for subsequent mods, if things otherwise are equal.

Your are correct that most of the difference is the name and color. I've seen both and for the looks I'd rather have a Stillen FSTB. Also, the Courtesy FSTB and/or your cars' strut tower needs to be slightly modified/hack-sawed to clear a bracket that is part of the car. Do a search and you should find some more details.

NO Group Buy, SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but as many others have failed in "simply" cordinating a group buy, so have I. I jumped the gun a little on Avalons' post.

Basically, Paul from Avalon is "unable" to decrease the prices of Stillen products due to a set price he can not go below. Any reputable Stillen dealer has to uphold this pricing floor or else they will no longer be a Stillen dealer. Stillen SCREWED us again! Wonder if he does this on his Honduhh parts, what a sellout! I'm trying not to vent till the end of the post.

Paul did try and help the pricing a little, but you can call him and get a 2-for-1 shipping deal and it will probably be near the same cost without the GB hassle.

Lastly, ohboiya says http://www.custommaxima.com/ is putting together a deal NEXT WEEK through another avenue. Supposedly, he doesn't have the same "limitations" as Avalon does. Hopefully, this turns out to be true, but I don't know.

Sorry again!

Venting

Why did I buy a Nissan again? Nissan dealers suck, aftermarket parts are scarce, and the only decent Nissan aftermarket parts production company is screwing us at every possible moment due to no REAL competition. I can't wait to open my own shop and put these guys out of business. Thanks to Cattman, Courtesy Nissan, Avalon, UR, and Southpoint for giving us "some" options. We need to put the pressure on Stillen, JWT, JET, Hot Shot, and others who are capable of producing decent parts for a reasonable price by buying Cattman, Avalon, and others products when possible. I bought a Maxima because it was fun to drive, 4-doors, roomy, had a V6 w/5-speed, kinda a sleeper, and was sub $30K. Too bad I like to customize my cars, however my next car won't be under $30K.

Clarification on your point

Ice, just wanted to clarify your statement about having to hack your car. I have the Courtesy FSTB and it required no modification whatsoever to get the part in. I know I've seen some pics somewhere where it did show this, but I believe it may have either been an earlier model Max or another type of FSTB.

On another note, Paul from Avalon Racing told me the same thing about the Stillen pricing floor a couple of weeks ago. He said he's got to stay within a certain range or risk losing his distributorship. I believe him.

Paul has been nothing but terrific to deal with and has gone out of his way to help me on a couple of issues. Stillen should be counting their lucky stars (and yes, probably counting their money, too) to have a reseller like Paul in their distribution network.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for performance parts to include Paul on your list of folks to check out. He'll treat you with respect and do right by you as well as be there AFTER the sale to help you out if you get stuck.

And no, I don't get a kickback from him . I just enjoy talking good people up especially if I think someone else can benefit from the experience.

Cheers!

I was in no way slamming Paul. That is why I thanked Avalon in the VENT part. I have had awesome dealings with Paul at Avalon and I recommend him. I was just stating that he was not able to lower the prices due to Stillens' rules not by free choice. At the time I was going to purchase a FSTB from Courtesy modifications were necessary. They might have redesigned the bar in the past 3-4 months, I dunno.

Oh, I know you weren't slamming him. I was just reaffirming that he wasn't giving you a line of BS and that he's great to deal with.

It's all good.

Price Floors

In my youth I worked at electronics retailers in an effort to build my systems (home and car) while receiving discounts. Many companies, Sony included, set pricing floors that are not to be reduced. Though many stipulations only agree on advertising prices !!!! Maybe Paul could have done something on a one to one basis, with phone contact and Maxima.org referral. A post on this major Maxima freeway (KUDOS MAXIMA.ORG)could have led to a warning from Stillen.

Michellin tires also does this, and will allow sales below floor and at discount chains but without advertising.

If Stillen has really tied down Avalon Racing and in affect boosted it prices through unfair competition practices, they can be fined under law. Maybe someone should contact the BBB and see who to report this to.

Personally I hear that the Stillen exhaust is loud and drowning at 2k-3k rpms. I will also not pay 400.00 for a muffler when I can get custom madrel bent cat back exhaust kits for my previous Ram Air T/A for 350.00. I added pencil tips to my SE/AE this morning and have an upgraded look for 40.00 and nice quiet growl!!

I had to hack because the bar I bought was for a 4th gen. Courtesy only recently released their 5th gen RSB which doesn't require hacking.
