Rear sun shade from I35 in 02 Maxima

Has anyone tried to put the power rear sunshade from an I35 into a Max?
I saw an I35 today with the sun shade and it looks like it would go right into a Maxima. I'll probobly call Infiniti Monday and see if they sell the rear deck pannel with the power sunshade. I'd really like to find a used one. Anyone have an idea on where to find a used one?

it won't, I already asked Infinity here in Orlando and they told me that It wont fit. But I know that no dealer in Orlando knows a thing about Maximas so give it a try, if they say yes I will go for it too. Good luck

I've wondered about that several times. But if there was one feature of the I35 that I wish my Maxima had, it would be the EL gauge cluster.

yeah man i do acid all day and night, esp while im driving though school zones with my shade up, it makes all the light coming though all hole-y

Trust me man, its over rated, it will be one of those mods that you will wonder if it was really worth everything. now if it was made out bullet proof material it would be perfect for my get-away car!

LMAO. I thought it was a neat feature but if you were going to do something like that for a Maxima, you have to consider the wiring harness and the switch.

The wiring wont be a problem for me. As long as the pieces fit in the rear with out too much hassle I'll be happy. I'll try to find out more today.

Isnt the rear decklid different, in that there's a raised portion that houses the sun shade?? Anyone with an I30/I35 want to chime in here?? (FWIW, I cant see the wiring being a big deal neither.)

I've got a manual one in my car. You have to pull it up like a roller-shade but it is mesh like the I35 one. I'll see if I can dig up the site where I got it.

some of you cats are so quick to jump in and say 'no ones done it yet, and the dealer said it wont fit, so it must be impossible'. give me one good reason why it wouldnt?

wiring wouldnt be anything more than a three prong switch. up down and +12. get the rear deck out of an i35 and it will work in a maxima.

I got the idea from an I35 we took in on trade at the dealership where I sell cars. I'll pull mine next to it and compare the area under it from inside the trunk. We seem to have gotten a wave of I30, I35 and 5.5 gen maximas traded in over the last couple of weeks. I wish I could just swap from the I35 here but I'd be looking for a new job pretty quickly.

You know I was thinking of the same thing some time ago because I really like the look of that rear sunshade. From a distance it kinda gives the look of a tinted rear glass. In fact some Toyota Camry's have them too as a option and I have seen them on the VW Passat also. I believe that if someone with an Infiniti can give us some dimensions on this sunshade we can do some measurements and that would give us a better idea as to whether or not it would actually fit. And when it comes to mods like this the stealership is not the best place to ask for advice. They usually end up giving you the wrong answer. That's just my personal opinion.

I just looked at an I30 and I35 with sunshades next to a 5.5 gen and they are the same from insde the trunk. The whole sunshade mechanism is located in the deck panel with the speaker in it. It is raised up to accomodate it. You would have to replace the stock panel with the Infiniti panel and shade. I can't see why it wouldn't be a straight swap. They even look the same from inside the car as far as how they fit in. I have my camera but can't post pics here at work so I'll try to get them up tonight.

Yeah, I called too. Retail for the sunshade is $1,042. My cost would still be $834. The parcel shelf also has to be replaced for around $300. This is obviously not going to be a project involving new parts from Infiniti.

Money better spent towards a good car a/v system imho.

I already have very dark tint. I don't really need a rear shade. I just thought it would be a cool mod. Definately not $1,000 cool though. I may look more into the links provided by 01SE02SER. If those could be mounted and not look cheesy it could be cool.

For that kinda price I guess that I am not going to do that mod. You can get tints for a fraction of that price. That's way too expensive. It costs less than that when the car is brand new. How did they work out that $1200 price.
