Need Help Replacing Idle Air Control Valve
My car (2000GLE) put out the Code PO505. The car constantly stalls at idle. This is a code for a malfunction of the "idle air control valve". I erased the code, and cleaned out my throttle body to see if it would help, but the code came back. So, I'm picking up a new valve tomorrow for $300 Canadian. But, I don't know where the damn thing is on the car. I'm sure I'll find it eventually, but can anybody give me some insight? My biggest concern is if I have to remove the intake manifold to get to it? Help would be appreciated!
I just did one on a friend's Max last week, and it made a tremendous difference.
It is located under the throttle body. You must remove the MAF and the intake duct. The screws that hold the IACV on are on the bottom, kinda hard to get at. Also the coolant flows through this valve, so you will make a small mess when you disconnect the lines.
