2K3 A/C Question

2K3 A/C Question
So it's not quite hot enough yet to kick on the A/C. So I run the vent on occaision with the windows up. If I switch from outside air to recirculate w/o pressing the A/C button, the A/C still comes on. Is this normal? BTW, no it doesn't have climate control. Any ideas?
