RPMs violently jumping up and down, up and down, up and down etc. There could be others, but I know that's the main one.

also, the engine may die when your idling (no throttle). my IACV was bad, and wouldn't let air bypass the throttle to get to the engine.

Did this happen all the time or every once in awhile? My problem seems to not be as bad once the car is warmed up

it was intermittent at first. but it started happening every time. it was actually worse when the car was warmed up.

I just got through replacing my IACV, the car just would not idle at all, malfunction lamp came on and got DTC p0505 when scanned. Now I'm fighting the problem you describe. Idle jumps back and forth from about 1500 to 1900 when warmed up. When it is first started cold it has pretty much a normal high idle. If you figure it out let me know, I'm stymied right now..

Possibly a vacuum leak from the work you performed. I just did the same job, and was meticulous in cleaning up parts before replacing the valve. Everything works perfect.

The IACV measures the amount of air that is passing by the closed throttle plate. If you're idle is messed up you'll beable to run and accelerate the car fine, but will have a hard time idling or decelerating. RPM needle will jump arounnd or be too high or low (should be 750rpm + or - 50) and car will run bad.
