Oh my trans is so toast...

This thread is a bit pointless, just so you know before hand. Anyway, I've been talking about taking my car in to have the autotragic checked due to slipping between shifts etc. Tonight was the worst I've seen yet. The car started to warm up, but I guess I could have waited another minute or two before pushing it. Anyway, my friend was with me and we were pulling away from a light and he was like "waste that guy" jokingly, but I decided to anyway. So when I stepped on it, I accelerated nicely (I think I was in second, but maybe first, not sure) until red-line. The car sat there for about two seconds before finally upshifting. I was like . I kinda chuckled and said that I can't keep doing that, but I just love acceleration, damnit!

Anyway, the Nissan dealer better not try to skimp out and not replace my trans, because that thing is so shot. On top of that, I'm about 90% sure I have at least one bad wheel bearing, so I have to have them check that out, too.

We'll see how it goes.

If they come up w/a BS "cannot duplicate" excuse, just wait a couple days. It's prety much guaranteed that w/in a week you'll not be able to reverse and, at that point, there's no question the dealer will realize that the tranny is shot. Added bonus: they pay for towing.

That's the other thing. They may have to push it a bit to duplicate the problem. Sometimes, it slips when I'm accelerating slowly. More commonly, though, it only happens with quick acceleration.

The same thing happened to me. It woudl shift good then started slipping, only between 1-2 shift, not the 2-3 which is nice. Then one day it started doing that ****. I took it in for the TSB and tehy gave me the can't duplicate excuse, I said fine, since my warranty isn't dealer specific, took it to a good mechnic so he called the warranty company and stated the problem, and I got me a Maximum Tuning stage II VB. Shifts bee-aye-utiful now. Not sure if your problem is the tranny or VB, but mine hopefully will hold up and yours too, GL.

Du, which dealer do you go to? one where your at school, or one back home in NJ? if its back in Jersey, let me know which one. im not sure if Lynnes Nissan service is as good as they could be and want to see if you have experience somewhere else.

good luck gettin all this taken care of, i cant believe i went from one car with horrible transmissions to another (although not nearly as bad, still seems like a problem).

Well, Lynnes is about 5 minutes from my house. The next closest after that would be Denville, but I've heard they suck. I've heard mixed things about Lynnes, but that's probably where I'll wind up going (first). If that doesn't work, we'll see what happens.

Hey my autotrgic is doing the same thing. They changed the vb on wed. and that didn't do anything for the slip. No they're getting me a new tranny. Oh my tranny slips 1-2 and 2-3.
