Maybe it is my brain making me think something is better.. but I changed the oil onmy car yesterday Mobil 1 Sync, and added some seafoam with it and now the car feels better, the engine doesn't sound as much as before. It could be me, but If it is me I like it......
Has anyone try this before?

Seafoam does clean the engine very well and make the car a touch quieter because all of the parts are moving smoother in the engine now. It could make some smoke come out of your exhaust for awhile so dont panic too much if you do see that at some point. My car has had seafom through it and it ran like a champ. Should seafoam be run through the engine regularly though??

 

1) You shouldn't have put seafoam in with the new oil.
2) Seafoam in the oil will NOT make is smoke.

Shortchange the oil to 1,000 or so and put new Mobil in.

 

Shouldn't the SeaFoam be run through the crankcase prior to an oil change, rather than after it? I believe you should have added the SeaFoam before the oil change and driven it a few hundred miles.

 

Oh man ............. I think you might want to change your oil again. That seafoam in the oil dilutes it, that's why the engine feels better. Using oil of lighter weight "might" have some negative effect if you push your car hard.

 

Ditto.... I'd change the oil real soon. The seafoam if a detergent from what I understand.

 

I read recently that you should only run Seafoam through the brake booster hose and not through the gas tank or crankcase. Can anyone shed any light on this? The owner's manual and Haynes recommends not using fuel or oil additives.

 

You read incorrectly.

 

I read the instructions in the can and I says that you should add it with the new oil and run it.. but I now I think I will have to do a better research before I F$#K my car...

This is what the Website says... and I also email them to verify .. I might change my oil back.... in case of.....

In Tune-Up of 4 Cycle Gasoline Carbureted or Fuel Injected Engines

With engine warm, slowly pour 1/3 to 1/2 pint through carburetor or throttle body throat. God guys... I'm changing the oil again this weekend... Damn....you guys are making me think about this twice..... well what else it is only money......

 

i ran it in my crankcase only for the 8 miles from the parts store where i got it straight home to change it. you are avoiding any issue by changing it again. the benefits they list should come even by running it for a short amount of time then draining it out of your oil.

 

There is a distinction between not reading something correctly and what has been read being incorrect. I know what I read. It may have been incorrect if you follow me.

I'm not taking a chance so I parked the car and will change it again in the weekend.....

 

Just leave it in for 150-200 miles. Might as well let it do something.

Yes I'm going to leave it in for a few 100 miles so at least it does something inside the engine hopefully it wont brake the engine

 

So you shouldn't add the seafoam by way of the valve cover Oil cap? I almost did that today

 

You can do it but..... I got an email from Seafaom company telling me that I can leave it in and also can flush the engine with it. So is it a Flush or an additive... it cannot be both....... so Is going out on Saturday.,....

 

It's a mild flush when put into the oil. It's an additive when it's added to the gas. It's a cleaner when it's added into the intake track.

I used it in my gas tank and now I have a bad O2 sensor. Coincidence? I dunno? Will not use it again.

That must be the industrial size! I believe the can I bought was about 8 oz.

 

Then I believe the combination of seafoam and your o2 was just chance.

 

I ran seafoam 2 times in the same day (within ~30 minutes of one another) on my car and within days I started noticing P0430 catalyst code, which has never gone away. Not until I installed O2Simulator the other day, that is ;-)

That was in the intake manifold though, not in the fuel line. I don't think that crap has enough concentration when used in the fuel tank to cause problems, or even do any good.

 

Yeap.. my engine broke... and I hired a lawyer to sue Seafoam....... j/k.. nothing happened....
