Anyone use 245/45r17 fr and 225/50r17 rear?

It is time for me to replace my tires. I am running Toyo T1s 235/45r17 on my 17x8 Enkei's. I want to go to a less aggressive tire since I have a project car and I don't need such an aggressive tire on my max. However I want to try running a 245 front and a 225 rear bring handling closer to neutral. Has anyone done this? What are good tires to go with?

i think you might have rubbing issues with the 245's up front. its an interesting way of making the steering more neutral, but i'd say stick to the 235's and get a rsb.

245 should be fine, well i guess depends on the drop. a lot of maximas out there with 19's are running 245s with an stech drop, no rubbing.....so im sure it should be fine...even some (a couple i think) are running 255s all around....

Why would you install a wider tire on the front? My suggestion would be to just get the 245/45/17 on all four corners.

i've seen an integra type r running the touge with a staggered setup....wider front tires and narrower rears....they said it was to help with handling in FWD...dunno if this is true or not

I'm on S-Tech Teins and Stock wheels with a 245/45/17 tire and no rubbing...just road noise.

(They didn't have 225/50/17) - which is what you should use

DAAAMN! your on 245/45/17 on 7 wide rims? thats awesome...have any pics? i'm sure you proved alot of people wrong once they find out your running that size.....since they think 235 is the largest you could go...

how cool...they don't seem to buldge out as much as i thought? my friend has 17x7 on his subaru running 225s...and they buldge out slightly....i would have expected 245s to be waay out there...but they seem moderate in the pix polak....good job!

Im doing 245/35/17 all the way around my car. they wrap my ADR 17" rims!! (which i fricken hate). The tries are very nice. There is no rub which i was kinda surprised at but hey, they run really nice, no rub, squeel...nuthing. Thought you might wanna know that but yeah if you want a more neutral feel, definitley stick with 235, cause they arent weak and arent super aggressive.

Steven and others, I also have 245/45/17s on stock SE wheels all the way around. No rubbing or issues what so ever. They look tough and I have plenty of meat on the rim for potholes. I an definitely going with this size again.
I doubt that 245's will rub at all in the back because I bottom out (in the back) when the car is loaded up with people. Does any body else have this problem?

actually, there are a few maximas and other FWD cars here that run wider rims or tires up front, mostly for road racing and auto-x though. I run my 8" rims up front and 7.5's in the back for auto-x myself, though I have 235 tires on both.
