How would this look?
I was wondering what your opinions are on a carbon fiber hood and trunk on my black maxima. I've seen a few pics of the cf hoods on grey lustre and sterling mist's but never on a black.
just want your opinions
just want your opinions

i might keep it without the spoiler for a little bit, then put it back on..but a regular spoiler on a cf trunk would look goofy

yeah only dark color cars would look good with carbon fiber. since you have black it will look stealthy... like you cant tell you have it untill you get real close, i like that look.
for the spoiler, just wait till they comeout with one, im sure some one will later down the road. i havent seen black max with carbon fiber trunk, but it will cost ya..

thanks for the replys guys, i think i heard the hood costs around $500 and the trunk about the same? hopefully everything will be one grand..but i might be mistaken..also i won't get the trunk unless i'm sure i can fix it so it blends it with the back and so all the lines match

ive seen couple cf trunks here on the .org. they all had problems with the trunk not sitting flushed wehn closed. they mentioned about if you mess with the tension bars, you can have that probems fixed. ask kcmc, he has the cf trunk.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Unless you really want to take off some extra pounds, you should stick with the stock hood and trunk. I've never liked the CF look. It's better on darker cars than lighter, but I still don't like it.
Aside from that, there are the problems people have had, like humble_max said. Polak had the hood and then took it off. KCMC had the trunk and it wouldn't fit right and was damaged when he got it.
I'm not asking for a flaming here, but I really think CF would be detrimental to the aesthetics of your already perfect Maxima. Leave it be.

im pretty much against CF on anything except black and gray luster. i love the look of my CF hood/eyelid combination. yeah, i have the trunk, but right now its off cuz like they said, it came damaged and im waiting for the replacement. i loved how that looked too, and when i get the replacement trunk, i WILL get it to fit right. as for the spoiler, i think i have an answer to that, i just have to wait til i get the trunk.
unfortunately, the trunk probably will cost you more than the hood. in fact, im sure it would, since only one company makes them, and i believe they are made to order. i say go for it, youll like it, and you will definitley be unique as far as the trunk goes.

I loved the way my VIS hood looked on my dark blue max.... I also bought flush mounted hood locks, with a CF look to them. The locks were like the kind used in krptonite bike locks - the round barrel type. I think pin hood locks look ghey... The metal support piece that goes around the lock had a CF cover on it (from eBay) and they matched perfectly. When you looked at my hood, all you saw at first, were two round silver things, about the size of the dime. You really had to look hard to see the rest of it..
Anyways, getting the VIS hood aligned was a bit(h! i even had a couple of guys from next door come over - one guy runs a body shop and his dad the other guy - does body work - and we still had a bit(h of a time getting it to line up properly. We had to oblong out the holes in the hood hinges and everything...
I just took it off a few weeks ago, and put the stock one back on, because the front of the hood, where the hinge is, was starting to get this long horizontal stress fracture in the clear coat, caused by opening and closing the hood...
So if you do get a CF hood, watch out for this....

The carbon fiber hood would look good on your car, but do you really want to spend all the money for the looks instead of engine mods, or a custom interior? I mean dont get me wrong i want a CF hood myself but I just dont see it as a must have item right now for me.
If you do go with the hood then go with VIS, although you might want to move your hood latch for better fitment (thats with any CF hood.)
