Turned down a race today
I was on the highway, and some dude in a S2000 came up on me hard and pulled aside of me. He looked over at me and asked if I wanted to race him. I figured since I had just lost a race to a mustang, I didn't want to go for two straight losses. I kinda figured he'd hand me my a$$ too. Anyone think I shoulda gone for it? There weren't many cars on the road where we were at, so there wasn't the possibility that I might have been able to out maneuver him in traffic. Oh well...

I think you should of raced him. Because you never know what you can beat until you race it. Even if you lost to this one Mustang doesn't mean you'll lose to another Mustang ( different driver, different car) I raced a S2000 before and smoked him on the highway. Of course he was probably one of the crappier drivers out there (ran a 15.6 @ the track) It's very true that these cars don't make any power till 5,000+ rpms. I was tailgating the one I was racing and actually had to lift on the gas to prevent my front bumper from hitting his. And as soon as the next lane opened up I passed him like he was parked.

i wonder how happy that tranny and clutch is....
True..
I might have been able to beat him off the line.. But there weren't many cars on the road, and once he hit VTech, he could stay there the whole time. There wouldn't be any reason to slow down, other than for the fear of being pulled over. But, that cocky S.O.B. didn't look like the kind of guy who would slow down. At least not until he put me down! But, next time I have the chance to race one, I'll be sure to take it, and let you guys know what happened.
You should have still raced him. Who cares if you lose? I raced cars that I knew I was certain to lose, but I raced them anyway. And guess what? I had fun. If you race, you'll win some and you'll lose some. That's how it is.
