I just picked up the Hella supertone horns and im tryin to figure out how to hook em up. are they just a direct pulg in or do i have to use the relay given to me in the kit?????????

wow, compared to the stock horns, loud is an understatement, I didn't install the relay, with a lil help from 2k2max2nv, I learned its basically plug and play and running an extra ground to the 2nd clip of the horn, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HELLA TWIN SUPERTONE HORN UPGRADED!!!!!!!

Where did you get the horn and how much was it??

 

It's very easy to install, you just need to run the ground from the first horn to the second one. I got those for 69$US on a GD, I believe the seller was Bodi Setiawan, I hope I'm not mis-spelling his name.

by the way, you don't need to use the relays....they work fine without.

 

hela supertones are a definite upgrade to the stock horns, but comparing price to air horns, i think 2 sets of 3 piece air horns are about the same price and offer way louder decibels.

I'm kinda regreting my hela supertones.

i liked them a lot at first, but once i heard 2 sets of air horns, it just blew my supertones out the window.

 

Hooked mine up last month and they are extremely loud. No relay is needed and just needs to be grounded. I purchased mine from Autobarn.

 

autobarn wanted like $75, i got them from a local accessoris store, ezconcepts in bayshore, if your a long islanders, ezconcepts is the place to go!

 

I didn't know you owned a fire truck...I think air horns are .
They belong on clown cars and fire trucks.

 

Anyone have experience w/ Horns like these ? Look interesting b/c they're compact, saw them on another board, apparently they're 139db?

 

i really dont know if 139db is a good idea, after i installed these supertones, i stand 5 feet away from the front of my car, just hit the panic button on your key pad and your ears will be ringing for the next 3 mins. u actually feel the sound waves hit you. but thats just me............i love my wittle tiny winy horn

 

is it possible to install these without taking off the grill?

bugbite didnt remove his grille but cut his knucles up so if u dont mind that then go head, best bet is to remove the grille...

 

It is possible, but will be more difficult to work on within that cramped area.
Here is a picture of my horns without the bumper on. As you can see, I just grounded the 2 ground wires to the bolts where the horns attaches to the bracket.

 

I removed my bumper as well. Sooo much easier.

nothing makes you feel more like a manly man than blood drippiung from your nuckles after an awsome upgrade hehe just kidding, i was just lazy and didnt wana take the grill off let alone the bumper but that looks mad easy with everything off, i wish i had that much room. Awsome horns though, 2k3max2nv can tell you that there loud, are your ears back to normal yet? or still ringing?

 

You should have just taken off the grille. It is held on by 3 nuts.

 

Does anyone have a soundclip of how these sound?
