Ses

I got an SES last week driving home. Autozone gave me two codes:
P0455 - EVAP Control System Gross Leak
P1448 - EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve Open

I serched the entire forum for answers, and after trying to re-tighten my gas cap, and leaving the battery off for about an hour, the SES still comes on. I want to reset the ECU, but since my timing was advance to 17 degrees, I am afraid it will re-set it. I think the only way to reset the timing is by using consult II, and using the ECU reset procedure should not screw it up. I want to make sure this is true before I try the reset. If anyone know this for sure, please verify. I got hit in the bumper, passenger side in the front. Are there any sensors really close to the headlight, or fog light in the bumper that may have gotten screwed up, and throwing this SES? I can't imagine there are, but you guys might know better. Please let me know if anyone has a fix for these error codes; all the searches on .ORG reveal this may be a ghost code, just wanted to make sure before I go to the dealer. Thanks.
