Guys, had an awful mishap today while changing my rear brakes for the first time. Which if it wasnt a pain in the bum as it is to switch them out I managed to brake off a rather important bolt. The bolt is used to pivot things so that I can get the parking brake wire off, to remove the caliper. Well the thing completely broke off! Now I cant put the spring back. Surprisingly I had just barely gotten the parking brake wire reattached before it broke off. Anyway, I have no way of getting the bolt out, and I have no idea in the future how I'll be able to change out my brakes again without that part there. Are there any methods to remove that bolt? Or replace it with it broken off like that?

Unbelieveable.

You're going to have to special order one, or find a junkyard nearby or online that you can get one from and change it...

 

you can still remove the bolt from there, Go to Sears and ask for a Screw remover.. explain to them what happened and they will sell you a screw remover.. I don't know the exact name.. but they know what I'm talking about. When you take that one out just go to your dealer"stealer" and buy a new one or you can get a screw anywhere now..

I don't know how you would manage to get that out without damaging it. You'd probably end up having to replace that piece.

 

Well fortunatly its 65k miles and I replaced my rear brakes. Since all I do is casual driving it will be QUITE some time before I need to replace the brakes again. But this "screw" remover you think will work? Pretty much I need to get what fragment is left inside. If I can remove the actual treaded bolt that is left inside I'm sure I can find a replacement at any hardware store, its just a matter of removing the fragment that is left inside. Man crazy stuff.

I'll check in to the tool later this week, after all the hassle I'm not ready to deal with fixing it
