I have been having some problems with my motor mounts as i have started to hear a chirping noise when i accelerate (heard when in Park and pulling on the throttle cable)...and for some reason today, instead of the chirp noise, i now hear a brief hiss before the rpms rise. once again, i was in park and pulling on the cable ( 2001 SE)..and just as i pull the cable, it briefly hisses and then rpm climbs...any idea what this is? never heard this before!!

 

If you have an aftermarket intake, then that could be a possible reason.

i have a 2001 gle and im having that problem too. No matter what speed im going, if i press on the accelerator, i can hear this same hissing sound for maybe 2-3 seconds. It doesnt accelerate right away either,like it used to. Holla at me if you find out what it is,i'll keep you updated. I feel your pain (01 max issues)

 

POP intakes make you lose a smidge of low end ... so you're normal.

 

what RPMs do you hear it at, from 2500-3000 i have a whistle, but thats cause i took out my throttle body spacer, maybe yours is bent, or hey your engine could EXPLODE at any moment, you should wear saftey glasses when you drive

hissing noise is normal...thats the vacuum system sucking air....its 100% nrmal my 2K does the same thing

 

yup and i have the hissing noise coming from my intake...cept mine sounds NASTY! hahaha but i cant wait to get rid of my intake that i have now and swap over to the cattman. they kick soooo much ***. God bless cattman.

I believe the hissing you hear is normal for both stock and aftermarket intakes...

 

my GLE made the sound slightly when stock, I can definitely hear the hissss of air and the whistle (like a boost kick) when I accelerate. No biggie.
