O2 sensor

Question: How will a disconnected (wire is completely severed) O2 sensor (the one just aft of the cat and forward of the resonator), affect my engine?

Charlie... it will throw an engine code (like mine) and the SES light will come on... sometimes go out, but with hard driving will come back on and stay on. It won't affect performance, because the rear O2 sensor only acts as a check on the front O2 sensors (which actually read if the engine runs lean or rich). I've been driving since last year on the bad O2 sensor in the rear (long story) and it doesn't affect it. I am replacing it next week... after getting a pipe flange from one of the Ord members.

FYI... I *believe* that the item after the cat is the muffler, and the resonator is what the tail pipes run off of... at least, that was the setup on my old Intrepid.

ok cool. Thats what I have been doing for 5 months now. BTW, the resonator IS the part just aft of the cat. It is part of the B pipe. The muffler is in the rear section. Thanks for your help.
