Service Engine soon light & ECU test mode selector
So my "service engine soon" light came on about a month ago, and due to rain on the weekends and other stuff I wasn't able to check it out myself. I did replace the air filter one day, and after doing that the check engine light went off by itself. About a week later, the light came back on. So I just went out to check the code by using the instructions I found here (http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecu.html), and my ECU box by the gas pedal doesn't have the diagnostics screw. It does have the little bar-code sticker, but the rest of it is just flat metal. No other stickers, no holes, nothing. Is there another location for the diagnostics screw? I'd like to check this out myself rather than leaving it w/the dealer. I've got a 2001 Maxima GLE automatic that was made in Dec. 2000. Suggestions?

you do not have one. those instructions are for a 4th gen. autozone is your best bet to find out the code then do the repair. they should be able to reset it for you after the repair is done so it will not cycle back out.
