difficult 2nd gear..

today when i was stopped at a light, it turned green, so i put it into first and started going...well i got it to about 3k rpms (which all of you 6-speeders know isn't very long..) and tried shifting into second. I could not, for the life of me, get it into gear for the longest time, and there i was, i had just rolled into the intersection, and i'm going about 15 mph or so and slowing down while all the other cars are way ahead of me...so finally i pulled it out of 2nd, then slammed it back down, and it finally went in....
sorry if this is a repost, but i searched didnt find anything....this has happened like 3 times, and one time i didn't realize it wasnt in 2nd, so needless to say i heard a huge grinding noise after releasing the clutch a bit...
now usually, it just goes right into second, so i dont really know what's going on....anyone know what's up?

Don't fight it... just put it back into neutral, release the clutch completely, and engage it again... I've gotten that when its cold out and the car isn't entirely warmed up yet, but usually only going from neutral to 1st...

yeah, it's happened to me when i didn't match the RPMs right before, but never like this...it also wasn't cold out, and the car was already warmed up....it was very strange...
