symptoms of slipping tranny?

I think my tranny is about ready to go....I was cruising with some buddies of mine, we were at a light and I hit the gas full throatle and my car had no low end torque till about 4k then after that the car would jerk back and forth slightly at WOT. My car has no power...it doesn't seem like a MAF to me...but maybe it is...No CEL has come on as of yet....When I rev my car in neutral or park, It seems to be ok, nothing seems wrong....I got my car washed before I noticed the problem...could that have anything to do with it?I took my car in to nissan in december and they said that my tranny was fine (had trouble with it then) so could it change in 5 months I haven't changed my driving habits....any help will be very helpful...

Thanks in advance....

if your tranny is slipping...in your situation (WOT from a light), you will HEAR the car rev...you can SEE the rev on the rpm gauge but your car is NOT going anywhere until the car bucks (into gear?) harshly. Our tranny SUX!

Ok its not doing that so I feel better....but the question is what is wrong with my car....I just took it for a drive around the block. From a stop: about 1500 rmp to 4k there is a definate loss of power, 4k to 6k power is back (for the most part) but slight hesitations (I guess can't think of a word) the car kind of shakes back and forth while at full throttle. One more thing I noticed, I had all the windows down with the radio off, and I could hear the clicking of the engine (turn on your car and let it idle. That clicking noise from the engine is what I heard)

A couple things I was thinking of might be the problem

1. Because the SES light hasn't come on yet, I think it might be bad gas, or the fuel additive I am using (stp with the jet fuel you can get it at cheveron)
2. I got my car washed before I noticed the problem. Could I have sucked water in my engine? I left my car running when I was washing it...never done that before...
3. Mechanical? I don't know why if it is a mechanical problem my SES light hasn't come on yet....

Any input will be greatly apprecaited....

I had some slipping on my 99 Max and a transmission service took care of the problem. However, my tranny never jerked like yours. It sounds like you are beating on it so expect premature failure.

Oh yeah. You might want to try a synthetic fluid too when you get your tranny serviced.

might be your maf...I had the lost in power above 4k rpm on my first BAD maf and my second (replacement) maf went dead after like 1000 miles and there was a power surge...the car just jerk like a **** and will not go past 3k rpm. According to e55, there might be a TSB for your car for hesitation/lack of power...which changes your maf and reprogram the ECU.

My lose of power is only between, 1500 rpm and 4k before It runs fine, and after is when the shaking starts that is the only reason I don't think it is a MAF.....I am making an appointment at Tim Dalhe Nissan for tuesday. So we will see what is wrong then....still anything you know would help....
