So I have a gxe with no sun roof, and today I started thinking about the possibility of installing a sun roof like the 6th gen max.

as long as you can do it wilh no leaks it would look sweet!

 

pretty sure the 6th gen sunroof liek that doesn't actually open, though. Anyhow, I raelly have no need for a sunroof over the back seat. I prefer more of the "open" part to be over me in the front. Looks cool, but pointless IMO.

 

But it would be a really different type of mod for any gen except the 6th......so whoever did it first could post pics of it and not get banned.

I believe the "official" term of the glass feature on 6th Gens is "SkyView" glass-paneled roof. So it isn't a "sunroof", nor would it (ever) function as such... would be impossible.

But seeing one on a 5th Gen? Whoa. Don't think it would match.

 

lots of work. lots of money.

first- the glass would have to be custom. made to the correct size and contour of the roof. second- the sixth gen equipped with a skyview would have a modified roof skeleton to not only support the glass but the weight of the car in a rollover- your 00 doesn't. third- throw that idea out the driver side window unless you have money to burn and just get an aftermarket sunroof installed for a few hundred.

your best bet would be one of those ragtop sunroofs that go the length of the car, i think that would be dope, but not sure how it would look in the end.

 

My car is in the shop and I am driving a rental SE 6th gen with the skyview and I hate it. I find myself wanting to open it, but it doesn't. It's useless, absolutely useless.

i think they are ugly as hell and absolutely useless...save your time and money and get a normal sunroof thrown in your car if you have to have one...

 

really, you and others need to stop filling up the forum with 'what do you guys think' threads.
