How to adjust ambient temperature reading?
How to adjust ambient temperature reading?
My ambient temperature reading on the dashboard climate control screen is consistently a few degrees lower than outside billboard sign and local weather forecaster readings.
I'm assuming it can be adjusted slightly and I've been searching through the owner's manual, Maxima.Org threads and FAQ list (though not successfully) for the process.
Can anyone assist? Thanks.

I would rather spend the time adjusting it getting a root canal ... for a few degrees difference, that's nominal .. Local billboards and weather forcasters aren't always right ... and if it's that important to you ..GL
Is the reason you both are saying that the difference is minor because the adjustment procedure is extremely difficult or simply because you aren't aware of how to do it?
On my last Acura, the procedure to do this was very simple, took all of 10 seconds and allowed me to adjust the outside temp reading by plus or minus 3 degrees. I had to search around to find out how to do it, but, once I found out, it was very easy, so I thought Nissan might have a similarily easy method to adjust the ambient temp reading.

Sad isn't it
But GL searching. It's probably some sort of thermocouple or something similar that needs to be calibrated unless it's fixed
jsut trying to sound like I'm not post whoring

hmmmm.
ok, so then I have to assume the sensor is cleanable. I believe it is supposed to be somewhere behind the front grill. Can you advise of the exact location and what it looks like so I'll know for sure that I've located the correct part and how (other than wiping dirt off the unit) do you clean it? Are you taking the unit off the car and submersing it in some kind of cleaning fluid? Are you disassembling the unit and cleaning a critical part on the inside? I'm kinda thinking that just adjusting the reading is a lot simpler than playing with the unit itself, but, if no one knows of how to adjust the reading, perhaps attempting to "clean" the sensor might help.

IIRC, if you read the owner's manual correctly it states that there is a +/- variance between the ambient temp and the actual outside temp
also the sensor is inside on your dashboard, one of the little round black plates next to the defroster vents
