Two separate installations
When i installed the HU and the Keg, that took about 8 hours, with about an hour wasted on a screw on the side of the factory radio that i had to drill out since i mistakenly wore out the thread with a high powered drill ;-)
the NAVI took abou 3 and most of it was making sure i found the right wires to tap into and beautifying the whole installation
and yes thats is an open shelf, wish it wasnt

Looks good anyway man.
How on earth did you know what wires are for what in that mess? I've just picked up a 2K Max and I can't work out what wires are for what. Any resources available online? Very nice install BTW.
I've find two female plugs under the drivers seat not plugged into anything and one in the fuse box attached to nothing....

For the HU i got an adapter that plugs into the plug that plugs into the factory radio

and then those are color matched to your speaker wires
For the tap in that took a while to find but i found a spot that has all the wiring schematics. go to http://phatg20.net/index.php register, its free, go under FSM Factory Service Manuals and download the one for Maxima 2000, its an exe about 96MB, has every wiring diagram you will need for the car.
Here are the 2 that were useful for me

M46 was the common connector where both wires i needed where, so once i found M46, which took a while, i was good to go, also called up crutchfield and they told me of a 18 pin connector so figured it was M46 which shows up as an 18 pin connector

rather, the green wire needs to tap into the black wire(ground) that worked for both the 815dvd and the navigation unit

Here is the breakdown
KVT815-dvd - $899
kna-dv4100- $570
Musig Keg - $147
40 GB cartridge - $216
Looks good. Anyone know if the AVIC D1 will fit in the stock radio opening? I like it cause its a double din 6.5" screen. When the face flips down, theres 2 cd slots 1 for the GPS and 1 for music so you can leave music cds in there and use the GPS. Plus you can add on a DVD player too.

One other thing. Is there any particular reason you mounted your navi under the seat. I read somewhere that it needed to be horizontal, but I was wondering would it work fine installed in our slightly slanted dash just above or beneath the h/u?

More of a convenience thing, was thinking of the glove compartment but ultimately settled for under the seat. according to the instructions they wanted it to be horizontal.
