Will this work ???

Guys,
I was wondering if I could update my front section of exhaust a bit. But I have few questions, basically if what I have in mind will work. I looked through bunhc of posts, and all of them talk about different point, but not exactly what I want. Here it is:
Car: 2000 SE Cali spec, 104k miles.

- I have a hole in flex section of OEM y-pipe. Exhaust leak. I bought used one in great shape, and think of replacing it. ALso, i have a section that goes between y-pipe and front manifold.

So, what I would do, put in OEM y-pipe, take out front precat and replace it with straight pipe, and of course put in Fed Spec header.

Now the two O2 sensors on Precat will have to be simulated...

Do you think this setup will work? Or you can only put O2 sim on last sensor. All i need to get is Fed spec used header..

Thanks..

Whatever you do, do not dump your cats. You will not gain any power from this and it will only serve to make your car louder and deplete the ozone on the only planet that we can survive on.

Just toss on that y-pipe leaving the front section, from the y-pipe to the manifold, on the car and call it a day. If you want extra power, get yourself an aftermarket y-pipe and an intake. I have a new Stillen y-pipe for sale if you are interested.

Isn't this precat the only difference between CA and Fed emissions? I think it is.

So when I typical 2000 Max owner with CA emissions car wants to put in a y-pipe, does he leave the big can between the y-pipe and the header in place? I had a code thrown, P0430, but its gone now. Isnt' that where it comes from, the front precat?

My goal isn't to get any extra hp from exhaust, its to regain Original hp, because thats where it is lost. I read here that when mesh stuff inside the precat breaks down, it clogs the flow..

Is this what you have: http://www.stillen.com/Sportscars_de...id=4030&page=1

Yes the 2k owners leave one precat in place.
Yes I have a stillen Y-pipe for sale and it comes with the piece for the front precat if you so desire to remove it.
