I also hear that the Stillen piece has a "bees in a can" sound due to its flex joint design. I'm going to be going w/ the Cattman piece.

Depends on what your needs might be. If drive around in a harsh environment (road salt, snow, etc.), then definitely go with the Cattman pipe, else the Stillen pipe is good enough.

I don't have bees in a can with my Stillen y pipe...

One other thing Stillen is the anti-christ so I recommend purchasing from Cattman... just get in a group buy and the price should be decent.

I just installed the cattman pipe yesterday.
It is way lighter than stock unit went on easy.
muffler shop refused to install it something about feds?
only complaint is you need to remove 2 hanging brackets and no new ones are provided so you need to customize one.
wow what a difference. It will pin you back under heavey pedaling.

I chose to go with the Stillen y-pipe because of it's two piece design. I was doing something a little different by also replacing my front exhaust manifold to hopefully gain some lost HP by having a CA/NLEV emissions setup on my Max. If this experiment didn't work, I could have used one piece of the Stillen pipe like everyone else with a 2001 or CA/NLEV Max. Luckily this was not necessary since my experiment went okay. If you want more info, you can check out my site (http://http://www.desertpearlmax....YPipe.html

Performance-wise, I think they are about the same. I got 15hp with my Stillen and I don't recall anyone getting too much more or less with the Cattman pipe. As it was mentioned earlier, if you do live in a harsh environment, you may want to get the Cattman because it is stainless instead of "Jet Hot" coated. If price is a bigger concern, then go with the Stillen and save the extra $100.
