Fog light bulb

Which color bulb do you guys like the best in your fog lights.
i have 2k2 headlights with hids, they are white, w/ lite blu tint.

i cant edit poll sry guys, actually hid fog lights are way too much $$$$.....

dont think there is a super hyper white, hyper white is a blue tint, super white is a crystal white..........

No idea what color you'd characterize them as, but I really like Silverstars, will be installing those when I get the chance. Very bright white.

i dont see super plasmas but i recently did a narva gold fog light mod which went well because one of my super plasmas burnt out.

OEM bulbs rock...all others are a waste. especially with our fog bulbs. they'll blow eventually.

anywho, i dunno why, but when i see a lex or a benz with hid's, but oem corner lights, i like it cause it makes the HID stand out. with my oem fogs, it makes my HIDs stand out more. maybe i'm the only one.

save the money.

but take it a step futher and go........ capsules + HID.


or maybee 2 steps :capsules + HID + projectors

i drive without my fogs. i have stock bulbs. hyperwhites might look nice, only if it matches though.

Go with XTEC 8000K HID H3 Kit. That's what I have on my '02 Max (I'll have pics up soon). It's a serious look at night. I break necks when I drive past people at night with those on.

I am actually looking at that HID kit, but only if I can find some way to keep the 03 lenses from cracking (I've gone through 3 now). Anyone know if the plastic lens 00-01 fogs (that seem to hold up better) are the same as far as size and mounting, to the 03 ones?

Joe,
Not sure about the 01's, but if they are the same as the 03's then to change the bulbs I've found it easiest to pull the whole fixture out. You need to take out 2 philips head screws from the splash guard under the car below the fog light, and then one plastic pop clip that holds the splash guard to the front lip plastic. Then you can push the splash guard to the side enough to get your hand up in there and feel the back of the fog light where it's mounted. You can't actually see what you're doing unless you pull that whole splash guard off, but you should be able to feel where the wire goes into the light. There are two bolts (10mm) aligned one above the other on the back of the light. Unbolt those and the light will slide out the front. You may have to tap it a bit. The rest should be straight forward.

nah, i don't think the 00-01 fogs are the same as the 02-03. the 5th gens aren't round like the 5.5 gens. they are slanted and oval kind of, the 5.5 gens are almost flat and perfectly round. 5th gen holds up good because they are plastic, if it were glass we'd have the same problem as 5.5 gens.

the 5.5 gen's fogs aren't almost perfectly round...they're like you're describing....slanted and oval....but regardless the shape, they are different and even if you could find the lenses from a 5th gen foglight, it wouldn't fit over the 5.5 gen fog correctly.....

EDIT: see the top right pic in my sig...you can sorta see the shape there, but it's more noticable when it's taken off of the bumper.

PIAA Super Plasma's are poorly designed pieces of junk. 1 month and one burned out, and ive seen a few others who report the same thing. Way to go PIAA. I havent bothered taking all the stuff apart to get at the bulb and replace it, but I know I dont want another super plasma in there. Im thinking going back to stock is the best Idea. Screw it

If anyone knows where I can get H3 capsule's to put some color on the stock bulbs id like to know, yellow or blue.

No, I wasn't talking about replacing the 5.5 lens with a 5th gen lens, I was talking about replacing the entire fog light with the 5th gen version. I can't imagine the holes in the bumper where they mount are different, are they? Since you 5th gen people don't seem to have any problems I'm thinking those lights would be better candidates for a HID kit...

If you would like to have your fogs stand out and be very practical, ie. actually useful under foggy conditions, use Capsules!

Or if you would like to have a blueish look. Might well look for Luminics Pure Blue before you look for HIDs.
