Please help!! I have a metal rattle sound when going over certain types of bumps at 55+. I have a 2K1 SE with 1700 miles. My service center said it was the exhaust shields, which they tightend, but the noise is still there. Now I am waiting for a Nissan Rep to come out to take a test drive because my service dept states it is now the shock, but because the shock does not leak or is broken they cannot replace it. Does this sound like BS or what? Has anyone ever dealt with dealing with a Rep?? HELP!!!

Do you have any mods? Is your RSB tightened properly?

heh... similar, but TOTALLY un-related story... I once spent an hour looking for a rattle inside the max.. It had been bothering me for a while, and then one day I happened to be waiting for someone, so I turned up the sound....

It really sounded like it was coming from the driver's side seatbelt mounting... However, after a while (a long while), I found that it was that little black cup in the rear passenger seat (driver's side).. Rocked it back and forth a lil', and it popped back into it's place... no rattles since (knock on wood)...

PS.. did Nissan give you that "Could not replicate customer's concern" BS?? -or- MY personal favorite "Car is operating as designed"... (i posted a pic of that one)

Hey, I have the same problem. I have 1700 miles on my car too, but noticed the sound before 1000 miles. Really annoying and disappointing. It sounds like a clank when I go over certain bumps. I thought it might be some kind of shield. Just need time to take to dealer next week. Will let you know what they tell me. Please do the same if you find out anything more. Good luck....

Th clank sound is disappointing to me also, the car is completely stock. Nissan has not yet given me the car is working as designed crap. I got under the car tonight and nothing moves under the car. I guess it must be the shock mount or something. When I finally have the problem resolved I will let everyone know.

Are you sure the sound is coming from the outside of the car? Did you check the stickey about the TSB for "rattles"?
